How do you do, fellow gamer? Are you enjoying your daily rations of Doritos and G-Fuel?
We all joke about Doritos/Mountain Dew/etc. being the choice "basement dwelling neckbeards", but it's ironically the mainstream public that's pushing that perception.
I love that Sweeney is trying to spin this as a "freedom fight", when the truth is that Epic just wanted to take a bigger slice of the pie on iOS.
Funny that they aren't challenging Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo for "monopolistic practices". Could it be because roughly half of their Fortnite revenue comes from PS4? Naaaah, couldn't be...
The game didn't come to Xbox or Switch because of a partnership with Sony, so I'd imagine Capcom got some kind of monetary incentive.
That aside: according to Capcom's "Platinum Titles" list (on their own website), SF5 had sold 5.5 million copies as of the end of this past March. That puts it below SF2, which apparently sold 6.3 million copies on SNES alone. Compare that to something like Mortal Kombat 11, which recently passed 12 million copies sold (it's available on more platforms than SF5, but it released 3 years after it).
