WWE's need to control the wrestling industry as a whole has lead to their own demise. Their video games are only as innovative as their core business. And their core business has been watered down, family-friendly certified, and redesigned specifically to be marketable and merchandised. Mainstream lowest-common-denominator produced content is the best way to make money and the worst way to innovate.
I'm surprised you actually included the EWR simulator. It's still endlessly entertaining with its strong mod community creating all kinds of game worlds, scenarios, and eras along with the more complex TEW series. WWE/WWF games were and still are crazy fun if you cram a bunch of friends in 1 room.
what's the difference between what Danny did and pirating? All the groups that crack software and share it for free encourage users to buy it if they enjoy it to support the developers. Danny may not endorse pirating, but pirates DO endorse what Danny did.
What's hilarious is these annoying DLC issues are avoided entirely by pirates who get the full game - with DLC and all - for free. It's like the rest of us are being punished for not trying to steal.
Not only are pre-orders becoming less compelling, but buying a game brand new on release week is becoming less compelling as well. As the market for game sales expands, so does the market for used game sales. Now the only good reason to pre-order is for bonus content. Things that should have been included in all copies (and in some cases are already on the disc but need a code to unlock).
@bowweezzell The way the industry is built and judged, hype is almost as important as the game itself. Good trailers lead to more sales on day of release. Amount sold on the week of release is important to publishers who ultimately control the release of more games.
