Was really hoping remote play would be good... oh well, didn't need to spend money on yet another streaming device lol. Cool if you are into retro/PSP gaming, not useful for enough else to be preferable over other devices.

I feel like there are flashes of brilliance here and there. A couple interesting story missions that stray from the formula, some cut scenes that seem to indicate more depth than is on the surface. I feel like the game is setup to deliver a story, but doesn't and that is more frustrating than anything. If the bungie employee AMA on reddit had any shred of truth to the amount of story that was planned and then canned then it's a sad sad outcome. I would be fine with lack of story if it didn't seem setup to deliver a great one.

What you get instead is a bunch of different characters you have never been introduced to telling you to do a bunch of things that you don't understand. I feel like they took 50+ story missions and pared it down to the ones that simply had the best narrative or were the easiest to do, creating a patchwork Frankenstein of a story that should've been.

That being said, if they had an epic story but every mission had 3 minutes of unskippable cut-scenes I would likely be more annoyed. Take note devs, make the cut-scene unskippable the first time through but skippable every play through after that and you will have the perfect balance between storytelling and replayability.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for actually going in to depth about the highest level skill unlocks and advantages for each subclass. I feel like they make a pretty significant difference, and usually offer the player some kind of choice between survivability and damage output as well as catering to different play styles. It's just too bad you have to go so far into the skills before you start to get ones that make any noticeable impact.

@FinalPreator @techs3ek Damage values are one thing. Having blue lvl 18/20 weapons and armor that have a ton of upgrades is another thing, and it creates a pretty significant advantage for those that are higher level.

@Pyrobolo You can tell that the character they used to capture the video wasn't even very far in the skill progression as there was no Aftermath, Shockwave or Death From Above.

Dear Gamespot,
Please do an actual video showing the variety of things you can do with the class. Videos like this fail to show the different customization you can do by using skills like Shoulder Charge, Juggernaut, Shockwave, and Aftermath in the Striker subclass alone. Not to mention you don't even show the Defender subclass or the difference that Ward of Dawn can make in game types like Control.

I feel like videos like this, showing such a limited scope of what different classes can do, only adds to the perception that this game lacks depth and customization options. Every class has killer skills down towards the end of both subclass skill trees. Changing around those skills has a pretty big impact on how you play, as well as how successful you can be in PvP.

Thanks,

Someone who really enjoys the game.

@zrex2metagor @flashn00b Half Life 3 suffers from more hype already than any other shooter in memory. If this game is any indication, everyone will hate Half Life 3 when/if it comes out. This coming from someone who will probably love it, as I have played HL2 all the way through (including expansions) at least 5 times.

@BrunoBRS Word, I hated the cartoony graphics and campy dialogue. Played it to beat it and didn't look back. I was curious about Defiance but wary of a P2W situation. Bought the PS4 bundle and love the game so far.

I'm hoping expansions just increase the fun stuff rather than more of the same. Things like introducing more vehicles for crucible/single player, more story missions where you do things like the sword mission, new planets with different enemies, etc... Hopefully it isn't just "go to old russia AGAIN and kill some guys over in this other area now". I hope Bungie faces up to the fact that the ghost/tank/banshee gameplay from Halo was some of the best balanced multiplayer fun, and not following in that example is something of a mistake.

One thing to note about all the negative commentary, they haven't even reached the level cap yet. Bungie has made a kind of big deal about what happens at lvl 20 and progressing from there. Doing the heroic strikes that are meant to be ridiculously difficult for one. I got the impression from the Bungie commentary that reaching the level cap was kind of just step one. Would love to hear from someone who has reached the level cap.
