I've played a keyboard since I was about five and can still play it well today though I play more guitar. Go for it! :Dfirestorm91

'Curious, is a keyboard a viable substitute for a piano in college? Like I said, I'll be in a dorm, which means there's no possibility for a piano.

I'm 17 right now, and am about to enter my senior year in high school. That means I'll be going to college pretty soon. Unfortunately, I've yet to get my hands onto any sort of musical instrument throughout my life, and have been pretty anxious to go into one. Piano in particular has been pretty interesting. I'll be staying in a dorm in college, so... yeah, could anybody give me some advice on the situation? Should I consider it at all?

So, who here went to prom?  Our theme was Here's to the Night, and I got to dance a lot with a good-looking girl.  Anyone else here who enjoyed their prom?

Lot of good replies here, thanks.  My mom is actually Chinese, so she would be very helpful in learning the language.

If you werent happy taking japanese you probably will not be happy taking any chinese. However chinese would probably be the more beneficial of the two. funkadelichika

I was fine with taking Japanese, but a professor to me said that learning Japanese is nowhere near as beneficial as learning some other languages, such as Spanish.

Edit:  My bad.  I translated the truth of the situation very badly.  Actually, I took 2 years of Japanese in high school and quit with it, given my Japanese teacher was horrid.  The professor came afterwards, saying I should learning Spanish rather than Japanese.  I was thinking about continuing my time with Japanese in college until that moment, although now I'm not so sure as to which language I should take (they don't offer Chinese in my high school, which is why I wasn't taking it, but as it is now I am willing to go to some private area to learn it if it'll be beneficial to me).

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question to some of you.  I'm a junior in high school currently, and am looking forward to getting a major in marketing when I get into college.  Although, I've yet to pick up any really beneficial language regarding that major (took 2 years of Japanese... not exactly happy with doing that).  I'm thinking that the answer to my question is sort of obvious (that being Spanish).  Just hopin' that somebody could prove me wrong, since I think that'd learning Chinese would be a lot more fun.

Edit:  Oh, I live in the United States.

If the PS3 were 300 dollars, Sony would have gone bankrupt and Krazy Ken would have been assassinated by his own company.
