It was an incredibly dumb scene. What was the point of taking his guns away if you let him keep his axe? They should have chained them up or something if they wanted to keep his locked up. It just made me laugh. The Decipticons must have known Optimus had an axe since they all have melee weapons. Did you really think that was a logical, entertaining scene?

[QUOTE="vashkey"]And complaining that only one enemy requires that you do more than just shoot at it? What about the invisible enemies? You have to actually try and find them based on telegraphs before actually shooting them. What about the enemies that start as tanks and you have to flank around them and shoot them in the back then once they transform you have to shoot their armor off in key locations in order to kill them? What about the enemies that shoot mortars and you have to wait for them to take down their shields before shooting them? I could go on and on.vashkey

The vast majority of enemies, including some of the ones you mention, are just dumb grunts you don't require strategy. Invisible guys are annoying, but you still just walk up and hit them. I would have complained about how not fun it is to fight cloaked enemies and waves of spiders, but I had to draw the line somewhere. Just thinking about this is making me remember all over again why the campaign was so dull.

How come games like Call of Duty can get away with having enemies that require no strategy other than to shoot at them until they're dead but not Transformers?vashkey

I rant about the lack of AI in CoD all the time. The AI is embarrassing.

And I actually had fun with the part where you protect Ratchet. Did he not notice the over shields the game provided? Besides there were healing turrets generously sprinkeled around the level(that actually heal ratchet provided you protect them)as well as weapons, ammo and energon cubes.vashkey

I noticed that stuff. I hate escort usually and this was really poorly designed. Especially because I beat it alone the first time and it's so much harder when every enemy is focusing on you the whole time.

Which is why I dont believe in late reviews, they feel neglected and rushed.Ballroompirate

Again, how could I have approached this review differently? I was at E3 last week. If I would have posted it any sooner it would have forced me to neglect the multiplayer modes. Would that have been preferable to you?

WFC is certainly not the worst and is probably one of the best Transformer games we've seen period and so far everyone is giving it above an avg score/review (sites, users and gamers)except GS...hmmm.Its like giving Batman AA a 6.5....ok if a franchise has been struggling in the game department for sometime (think batman and superman) and one the best game of the franchise comes out and breaths life into the series and it barely receives an above avg score....thats just being one sided.Ballroompirate

First of all, I usually don't reference other sites (though I respect my colleagues everywhere in the industry) but other sites have given this sub-7.0 scores. Giant Bomb and Eurogamer, for instance, were even more critcal than I was.

Second, my theory on why this is getting such high scores by other outlets (and, again, this is just a theory, so please forgive me if I'm wrong) is that people love the license. As I mentioned in the text, this game does a great job with the license and, if you're a huge fan of Transformers, it would be easier to ignore the problem and get lost in nostalgia. I have no love for Transformers. I owned the toys as a kid, but I am not seeped in its lore. Therefore, I judged this as a shooter. Compared to other games in its genre, it's fun but has issues. That's a 6.5 to me.

Batman, on the other hand, is just phenomenal I don't read comics so I'm not exactly a huge fan of Batman, but I absolutely loved the game because the gameplay was outstanding. The fast-paced stealth was unique and incredibly well done, even better than the new Splinter Cell, and the contextual combat should be implemented into other games ASAP because it was so fun and rewarding. And the AI was really clever. It innovated and was of the highest quality. It's a highwater mark for games as a whole, not just licensed games and not just for Batman fans.

Rule #1- Dont trust reviews

Rule #2- Dont trust reviews days later when the game was suppose to come out

Ballroompirate

I was down in Los Angeles for E3 all of last week so I didn't have any time to play Transformers before I got back in the office on Tuesday. I have no idea why my review is harder to trust since it's being posted 3 days after release. That only means I didn't rush through it to get it up by a certain time.

No Portal 2? Come on. I guess I will vote for Epic Mickey then, but Kirby is a nice choice. Will be getting it for sure. This fall is going to have some pretty good platformers. And glad to see Journey winning a award.Wanderer5

Only games that were playable at the show were elilible. We explain our criteria at the front of the feature.

im guessing they toook it down. maybe they are giving it a different score lol

Deadbeatcobra

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I informed someone about the issue. Don't worry, the score will not be changed.

Tom how is the GOTY picked? Do all of you guys come together to pick the GOTY? I know Kevin was the one that showed off DS as GOTY. Was he the one solely responsible for picking GOTY? Just curious.3rdbass

Everyone who works for GameSpot (editors, video producers, international, etc) are invited to our meetings. We sit around a table (or call on the phone) and discuss and argue in painful detail every award. This usually takes 4 or 5 2-hour long meetings. Roughly. Every person involved doesn't have to agree, but if we can't decide on a winner, we do the ol' arm-raise voting. For Demon's Souls, just about everyone in the office agreed, after much debate, that it was the best game of 2009.

If you're wondering, just because Mario got a 10 does not mean it's a shoe in for GotY. Demon's Souls wasn't the highest rated game last year, but a majority of GameSpot employee thought it deserved the honor. We'll see what happens. Right now, it's my Game of the Year, but I still haven't played Mass Effect 2 or RDR, and there are tons of games coming out later this year. And don't sleep on Zelda! I don't know anything about it, but if anything can topple Mario, it's Link.

Did the person who did the review know what minor means? Cause if its bad then yea it should say bad.finalfantasy94

Minor quirks can still be a bad thing. They aren't pervasive distractions, but they are still bad.

I'm not sure why I'm talking about GTA IV anyway, though. This is a Galaxy thread!

So wat your basicly saying its a person by person thing. Not overall. Also i didint list the other bad because I was using the term minor as an example. If a minor thing in gta can show up as bad so can galaxy 2.finalfantasy94

There is nothing "bad" in Galaxy 2. In GTA IV, the friendly AI is bad. The visual quirks are bad. I'm not sure how else to say this.

So if something is so minor then why put it in the bad right? THen why GAT4 has it in the bad. It doesint make sense at all.finalfantasy94

Because the friendly AI is bad and Justin had problems with the visual quirks.
