i forgot to mention too. if you can get the equipment together and 3 friends play 4 swords. it is honestly the best zelda game on the gamecube and if you liked zelda 3 you'll really enjoy itbenbeckman

Love that game. I remember playing it with a buddy who only had an original GBA (with the crap screen) and he valiently playyed through the whole time even though he couldn't see anything. So worth it.

@TomMcShea

Where you stand on this game rip-off or homage? Just curious. Also im surprised that you didint mention the save anywhere feature in your video review. Since its actually a nice little feature.finalfantasy94

Well, if you agree with Penny Arcade, the difference between an homage and rip off is how much you like the game. It's clearly a rip off, but I don't really care, so I'll go with homage. It sounds much classier.

cows hyped up a 7.5 game as one of their big upcoming games..ive heard a ton about this game on this forum and it turns out to be just another mediocore ps3 exclusive. just as i expected!GrannyGoat

It's very good, dude.

windwaker maybe but majoras mask? that game was a masterpiece. best 3D zelda ever imo what about link's awakening and minish cap? they're masterpieces. spirit tracks is awesome too as for hard zelda games. you should play zelda 2 adventures of link. that game killed me as a kidbenbeckman

I really like Majora's Mask, but I doubt I'd ever play it again. The Groundhog Day stuff was fun the first time but it would be pretty draining to repeat.

I've only played the two DS handhelds. Never touched the other ones, though I've heard Link's Awakening is incredible. As for Zelda 2, that game is awful. I tried to play through it again a few years back when that Zelda collector's disc (with Ocarina on it) came out, but couldn't stomach it. So aggravating. 3D Dot Game Heroes is the real Zelda 2 in my eyes!

Water temples in zelda=big mind cluster *insert inappropriate word* here I will work on those. Are they on the wii VC?Animal-Mother

I think they are all at this point. It's crazy how different the original Zelda is from the sequels. The foundation was set by Link to the Past and every subsequent release is built on that. The original is all exploration which I really don't think would fly nowadays. People would just get frustrated without any guiding help. I love it, though.

This is one of those games where the score means squat to me. Just tell me its polished and long enough for an 8-bit adventure-game homage cuz frankly, i've made up my mind on the rest. I know it will be an 8.0+ experience to meThunderdrone

Yeah, I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm in the same boat! This'll probably end up being one of my personal favorites of the year (just like Ninja Blade last year). It's polished and long enough. You'll love it.

I never played an original zelda said for Ocarina on. Ummm how's the difficulty compare to lets say majora's mask or ocarina?Animal-Mother

First of all: what is wrong with you, man! Get The Legend of Zelda and Link to the Past as soon as possible. Seriously, those two, along with Ocarina, are 3 of the best games ever.

Now that I'm done chiding you, 3D Heroes is easier than Ocarina. That game had some very difficult puzzles (Water Temple anyone?) and there's nothing like that here. It's easier than Twilight Princess as well, for anyone wondering. Man, those Zelda dungeons are just ridiculously good. I'm getting stoked for that next proper Zelda game now.

Zelda was hard?Gxgear

Have you played the original Legend of Zelda? That game is rough! I downloaded it after playing through 3D Dot Game Heroes (twice!) and was just floored how much more difficult it is. I was cruising until that 6th labyrinth and then -- bam! -- mages everywhere.

To the people wondering about the score, this is akin to Ninja Blade last year: fun games that are super derivative. Did it make either of them less fun? Nope, but neither stood up against the source material either. Still, compared to console Zelda games (and the two DS ones), 3D Heroes might be my fourth favorite. The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, and Link to the Past are definitely better, but I love the old-school feel so much, that I would probably choose to replay this again rather than Majora's Mark or Windwaker. Just a really fun game. Definitely recommended for people who dig the early Zelda games.

Pretty sure the music was mentioned.HavocV3

Yeah, I'm just saying that I should have included the music as a Good entry instead of the joke about The Flood. The funny thing is, it's the joke that keeps coming back. After I write my review, I post it in a template so it's easier for our copy editing team to read. My template always has "No Flood" as the last Good entry, so I have to delete it and enter something relevent to the game I'm actually reviewing every time. It's the joke that just won't go away!

I noticed a 'Good' in the ODST review being "No Flood"HavocV3

Honestly, that was a joke that probably shouldn't have been published. I have never liked the Flood in Halo games so it was a welcome surprise to see they were not included, but I should have included an entry about the spectacular musical score instead of making a joke about the absense of a lame enemy.

this brings me back to the Dante's inferno review where that dip**** couldn't hold his tongue about God of War 3, seriously he openly compared it to a game that wasnt even out yetnofriekinlemons

I never compared Dante's Inferno to God of War 3 because, as you said, GoW3 wasn't out yet. I did compare it to the GoW franchise though because DI was clearly a massive rip off. The sad thing is, Dante's Inferno couldn't even live up to the standards set by the original God of War, let alone its spectacular sequel.

Yeah you're probably right.... I'd rather just think the guy was busy lol.CoolSkAGuy

No, you were right the first time. We don't have the resources to cover every game and (unfortunately) good games sometimes do slip through the cracks. I'm glad I did get a chance to review this because it's so much fun.

No foul:

Durant gets enough ticky-tack call going his way that you can't expect him to get bailed out on a good defensive play at the buzzer. But, yes, the NBA has serious officiating problems. I'm just bummed out that Deron's incredible game (and dagger!) are being overshadowed by this non-foul.
