I remember on my 80GB PS3 which was probably the 2nd generation version the one with only two USB slots and zero SD card slots. I was playing Lego Harry Potter out of no where the screen went black and then I heard three beeps and it shut off. I turned it back on and it ran fine. I had bought a 500GB PS3 slim and gave the 80GB to my older brother. He hasn't run across any problems yet from what I can tell. I still tell him to vacuum the back cause it seems to collect a lot of dust at his house.

It's always safe to back up all your saved data unless there are some saves that can't be backed up and think of purchasing a new one if you think it might help ease your mind.

I had my Wii since December 2007, and I haven't had any problems with it. But I have made the mistake of leaving it on one time and heard horror stories that it burns the graphic card on the side or something due to the Wifi always constantly on.

I would so love to see San Andreas again, I hope they make the cities more realistic and make Mt Chiliad even more taller. I could imagine everyone jumping off that mountain on multiplayer.

The problem I've had with HDMI was that my sound never worked right, when I played certain games like Saints Row 2 the sound wouldn't come through. Then I just ended up with Optical I know it doesn't give you 7.1 but it gives me 5.1 which is better than anything. Optical doesn't hurt if you're just wanting 5.1, but I see you are trying to avoid that all together.

I tried using Winamp Remote and it seems to play a lot of the movies and music. You are able to play it through the Browser and its better than anything. Yeah I agree with the one poster about Wii not being right for a Media Center. It wasn't built for that sort of thing.

Have you tried switching the receiver from the PS3's audio to Tuner? That usually happens to me when I play games like Saints Row 2, but I'm using an Optical for mine. Its like it doesn't correctly output the sound so you need to mess around with the receiver itself.

I got mine on December 16th, 2008. It was the 80GB Fat PS3 that wasn't backwards compatible. I'm crossing my fingers that my PS3 lasts longer than most of my friends who've all had the Yellow light of death.

Mine does this with a 80GB Fat PS3, like when I'm playing a game I will hear like pop noise, it even does it when the system is turned off. I think this is normal if not then I will be fearing my PS3 will be dead soon.

I have a 27" SDTV and the games look fine to me the only issue is my TV is starting to have lines so sooner or later I will need to upgrade and since SDTV no longer exist in stores I need to go with HDTV.
