I haven't played Dark Souls. Finished Demon's Souls though. I should probably get through the first one before buying this.
You don't have to play them in any order. I haven't finished Demons Souls or Dark Souls completely yet, and I still pre-ordered the Dark Souls 2 Collectors Edition (PS3) + Dark Souls 2 Collectors Edition Strategy Guide. I plan on playing Dark Souls 2 on day one of release.
The only thing that was ever graphically impressive about the Souls games were their amazing art style and surprisingly high res textures. That said, I can't wait for DS2; I just beat the first one and fucking loved it. Not the greatest game of all time though....that'd probably go to Super Mario World or Metroid Prime.
A game's art style is a huge part of what makes its graphics good. The Souls series excels in art style.
Super Mario World and Metroid Prime? Seriously? They were good for their time, but they don't even compare to Dark Souls 2. Why not compare Pac-Man then too? Nostalgia is great and all but let's be real here, video games have come a very long way since Super Mario World and Metroid Prime. Comparing Mario and Metroid to Dark Souls 2 is like comparing a 1908 Ford Model T to a 2014 Rolls Royce Phantom. Just no comparison!! Dark Souls 2 is light years better!!
I used to be hyped for Deep Down, but let's be real here: It looks like a Dark Souls rip off but with really terrible gameplay. Deep Down's graphics look great, but so do the graphics of Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 2 will have 1000 times better gameplay.
I will still try Deep Down since it's free, but I'm not expecting much in terms of actual gameplay.
Why would anyone buy that Elder Scrolls Online garbage when the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) video game is coming out March 11, 2014 --> DARK SOULS 2
