I don't have anywhere near the kind of dedication or "courage" to want to join the military.

[QUOTE="The_One_White"]Its very controlled there though. Only licensed "coffee shops" are allowed to sell and only 5g a day per person (18+). If it was controlled like that then I'd have no problem except that, while not as much as tobacco, weed can cause cancer in some cases.GabuEx

Well, why would it not be controlled here as well? It's not as if cigarettes being legal means that a 13-year-old can go to a 7-11 and buy a carton of cigarettes. Pretty much everyone I know who wants marijuana to be legalized thinks that it should be treated about the same as cigarettes.

Well in the UK at least, these controls rarely work fully. You see 12 and 13 year olds smoking in the streets outside some schools.

[QUOTE="LikeHaterade"]Statistics don't mean squat IMO until pot is legalized simply because far more people would be doing it.GabuEx

Okay, then let's look at the Netherlands. Marijuana was legalized there. Marijuana use did not substantially increase.

QED?

[QUOTE="Heydanbud92"][QUOTE="LikeHaterade"] Uhhh yea. Because the same could be said about marijuana addicts. What exactly didn't make sense to you in that last post?LikeHaterade

marijuana is not physically addictive.

Of coarse it is.

No its not. There are no chemicals in it that your body starts to rely on for normal function.

[QUOTE="The_One_White"]I've never understood why it was banned in the first place, I noticed someone mentioned USA/Mexican relations at the time but that doesn't explain why its illegal in the majority of countries. Though isn't it legal to smoke weed in Alaska?Mormaso
Not that I know of It's legal in Denver, CO and MA. As for alcohol car accidents, I couldn't find anything for overall but 67% of all FATAL crashes involved alcohol. FATAL being key

I just checked and by state law its legal to own up to an ounce.

[QUOTE="Bourbons3"]No, I don't think it should be legalised. It has terrible adverse effects, and legalising it would be making those effects seem acceptable.battousai188

PLEASE list these adverse effects! So many people post saying that but never back it up! Its because the only adverse effects are varying from person to person and based on how much they use it.. Its just like alcohol, cigarettes, caffein, and nicatine, take it out of moderation and its bound to screw you up in some way. Mind you I smoke quite a bit and maintain a sharp mind and have excellent grades in my college courses.

Well the smoke has the same chemicals that ciggarettes have that cause cancer for a start.

Hmm...I've thought about it abit more and it might actually be a better thing if it is legalised but heavily controlled. At least you would know it was of decent quality if it a proper industry. Personally I've never smoked it so I can't really object to it if I don't know first-hand what the effects are. I doubt it will be legalised though.

[QUOTE="Funky_Llama"][QUOTE="The_One_White"]You all must have learned chemistry differently from me :( I was taught the valency of each element while you seem to call the outer energy shell "valence electrons".

Same here, but it was easy to guess what TC meant. :P

I thought that the "5 valence electrons" were valency numbers :( Now I see that it would have been one of the group 5 element because I'm so clever...and all that.
