I know this is a gaming forum and everything but I've come here to ask you guys a question that my bro is having problems with (I dont really care for this stuff, so I dont really know the answer), and I'm just wondering if any of you smart ones could please solve it. I understand I shouldn't come here to ask you guys anything really, as its my bro's responsibility, but its appreciated if you can, and please explain how you found the answer (or provide a link). Thanks.

Element Q is a metal with two valence electrons, and element X is a non-metal with five valence electrons. They combine to form an ionic compound. What is its forumla?

Why can't you people just accept it, god is the answer. Science is wrong.

My guess it Q3X2 seeing as it's probably basic chem and you're only considering the first few elements right?

Valence electrons are the ones on the outermost ring.

You all must have learned chemistry differently from me :( I was taught the valency of each element while you seem to call the outer energy shell "valence electrons".

Same here, but it was easy to guess what TC meant. :P

I thought that the "5 valence electrons" were valency numbers :( Now I see that it would have been one of the group 5 element because I'm so clever...and all that.
