Wowie wow wow... YES!!!! This is spectacular news! Now they can spend more time on Remember Me and hopefully 30 new Resident Evils will release next year! Oh joy.
I only wish they could cancel all Mega Man titles... with any luck, they'll make a time machine and go back to cancel the original on NES. That way, we won't even know about their flagship icon that got them off the ground. Whoopie GEEEJHOLLY!!!
It's crap like this that make me believe Roger Ebert's dumb ass that games are not art. If EA had their way and all publishing companies took to their motto of thinking, then I'd have to agree with him. Fortunately, we have companies like CD Projekt Red and From Software.
At least some people out there have a vision and a rapport they care about, not just fiscal suits to appease.
These numbers are inaccurate, at least regarding "The game gleaning the most contributions." If you had said contributors and not contributions, then that might be correct, but as it stands this isn't right.
I'm not saying this takes the cake because I don't know all of the numbers, but Obsidian's Kickstarter grossed more funds. Obsidian's Project Eternity raised $3,986,929 from 73,986 Kickstarter backers and $324,650 from roughly 5,698 unique PayPal backers. Even with out Paypal backers, it's still more than Double Fine's Kickstarter.
Either way it's still amazing and Kickstarter is quite fantastic, but the article isn't accurate.
