Absolutely fantastic Danny. This is also very close to why when I review a game I don't give it a score, my ending conclusion screen says "You have a greater likely hood of enjoying this game if interesting in features similar to..." and then to the right side of the screen it says "Adventure like X and Y games" or "Storytelling like This and That".

Giving a game a score is an outdated system, it's better to try to relate to a gamer's past gaming habits. Absent but associated titles with similar aspects is how I like tell someone they'll likely enjoy a game.

That ending was priceless. Bravo.

I feel like this video was titled incorrectly because I think Watch Dogs does create a very realistic-feeling Chicago of the near future (and I live there so I think I have a decent idea), but that being said I agree with nearly everything Danny is saying. I feel like the real argument trying to be made here is actually what creates a compelling and memorable gaming world through the awe of discovering that world as opposed to feeling as though you're placed in a world that's already discovered for you. Danny says that games like Skyrim and Red Dead feel like they're there before you and will exist after you leave, whereas worlds like Watch Dog's Chicago DO feel like they were there before you got there... and someone gave you a map and pointed out every single thing that's important; essentially creating the disillusion of mystery and thrill of discovering the world for yourself.

So, I agree with the video... just not the title of it. This video is more about what it takes to create a compelling game design in an open-world than it is about "realistic" environment, which is what the title suggests to me at least.

They should come up with some kind of a thing where people can buy and play games digitally, but it should also have the largest modding and player community of all other platforms.

That would interest me. OH and it should be completely backward compatible forever since the industry seems to be plagued by the idea that it's okay to forget about past gaming masterpieces. You know, the games that helped create the industry.

Yeah, I want that, what's that called? It reminds me of this thing called Steam but I don't know who owns that.

Thank you. I made it bigger. That must have been the issue.

I would think the grammar police like yourselves would get my crappy word joke in the sentence that progressively gets dumber.

No one? Alright.

I know the difference between their, they're, and there... what do you think I am? Some idiot thirty-year-old?

You don't realized it now, but you'll be one of those slow-learning, toothless, idiot thirty-year-olds before you know it.

Also, I guess only us really old thirty-year-olds learned the difference between then and than. Sadly the 'then and than' knowledge will be lost in time after our vastly superior younger generation phases us out with THEY'RE improved intellect and all around better human beinginess.

A tear for you then and than, a tear my old friend.

I'm not sure who's worse, the people who come down to the comment section and make a post solely based off the headline or gamespot for their terribly misleading headline that takes things out of context to fit their needs. This is part of the problem to why journalism (all forms) is such a joke nowadays; idiotic tactics to draw a like-minded audience to read subpar articles.

Go CONTEXTOMY!!! Weeeeew =D

I congratulate consumers on speaking out on something that was wrong and forcing a massive company like Microsoft to listen to the voice of reason. But, the people so readily able to take them back are beyond me, they crossed a line and I will not support them any longer.

It's like taking back a girlfriend that just cheated on you, one that is bipolar and can change their mind at a moment's notice. No Thank You.

One EXTREMELY important thing no one is really mentioning about W3 which is so small but so important: just for one second in the preview, Geralt is walking while in a parry stance (one of my biggest gripes about W2 combat system).

Also, on the topic of the video, richness is much more important than vastness.
