no argument there, the PS4 will probably outsell the Xbox One in the first year. 2:1 I'm not so sure. I notice that ratio shrinking as time goes on. A month ago, people were yelling about how preorders were 4:1. Either way, the short term won't be what dictates this gen.

Xbox One will come out ahead. Everyone is giving it shit because it is an entertainment system and not simply a gaming machine but that is exactly why it will win this generation.

Non gamers will buy gaming machines if there is enough incentive. Look at the Wii. It reached a whole new demographic and showed the industry that their consoles are marketable outside the standard audience. And Nintendo ended up making a ton of money. Yes, most of them ended up as paper weights but the principle is still there. If Microsoft ensures quality game support through out the life of the generation then this race is already over. (At least in the US and UK)

Also, at the rate mobile technology is advancing I wouldn't be surprised if phones, tablets etc overtake the next gen consoles spec wise within 5 years, probably sooner.

these console purists can't wrap their head around the fact that with a PC you can have whatever build you wish. Rather it be a $600 or $3000 one. It just goes against all this uniformity that has been drilled into them by consoles.
