The GameCube being a lackluster console due to it's no online and lack of third party support was very well known back in the day. But now I see some people saying that the GameCube was a "success." Others are even saying that the system received just as much support as the PS2 and Xbox - dafuq. . . .? Usually when people say that is when they're criticising the Wii and Wii U.
The lack of games on the GameCube was very very very well known. Game editors were pointing it out, I even remember an old interview from E3 05' where Kevin Pereira asked Reggie about the lack of third party games for the GameCube, of course Reggie dodge that accusation. Try to find that interview on YouTube if you can. The sells of the system was about 22 million units world wide, which is worse than the N64 which was about 33 million.
I do own a GameCube and I find it a very underrated console. Not a lot of games on the system but the games that were on it were fantastic. And that controller was the best/worst controller ever made.
