@lionheartssj1: If you spent however million of dollars remaking Midgar, you might as well reuse the assets and pad it to a full game. Midgar generally has a similar atmosphere and style throughout.
Had they done, say, all of disc 1, you have not just the industrial rundown dystopia style of Midgar, but a quaint village, a coastal resort, mountains, deserts, an amusement park, a destroyed reactor, a village built into the side of a mountain, caves, rocket ships, a military installation and so on.
I do think people playing for nostalgia will be bored by the new additions and just waiting until the game lets them free to go to the next scene that tickles their 'member berries.
Having played the game, it seems like this game makes fun of and degrades every type of person. They make fun of feminists andCODbrogamer types. They make fun of liberals and Republicans. They make fun of racists and anti-racists. It accurately portrays the negative aspects of hood life, and there is a lot of misogyny there. The game has so much “MUHDIK” because real life has so much “MUHDIK.”
One of the top 5 things I like about the game are the portrayals of ethnic and racial conflicts. This is a very, very early spoiler, but there is a mission where you fight with a Hispanic gang. Later on the radio the news wonders if this is the re-ignition of black-Latino conflicts. Though it has died down in recent years, this is a real issue in Los Angeles as immigrants have moved into historically black neighborhoods.
The game is a reflection of contemporary culture, warts and all.
@ClaudiusCaesar Also, the game is about three men. That's it. There is no need to shoehorn in a female character especially if the writer is not up to the task.
@Morphine_OD Xena was kickass, but not very realistic. Realistically Xena and Gabby would have been raped repeatedly in those times at worst and lived a generic peasant life at best (sans rape). The show worked because it's a fantasy.
But I could not see a game about female basketball players or female firefighters being that exciting. Any game in which a female is a badass, and kicks everyone's ass is of potential interest to me, but it only works as fantasy.
