@mathi4s: the reality is clear that he faulted the game because he sucked at the game, and you just have a personal vendetta against this game.

@Mogan: they made two bad Sonic games, one of them rushed, and then made a decent Sonic game before they got it right.

@Armin_Devil_PS3: no, Polygon also gave it a six for the same reason.

"These classic Crash games are short, but there are time sinks due to unforgiving and frustrating design choices from the time period. There’s absolutely no margin for error on many of the jumps in these games, and a majority of them are tiny or viewed from an awkward angle. Some levels mixed 2D side-scrolling elements with just enough 3D to completely throw off my depth perception. I would tilt the analog stick just a hair too much and fall off the platform, dead. Or I would jump to a moving stone in some water and not land exactly in the middle, and Crash would pass right through it and drown. Being unable to advance in a game because you can’t come in first place in a racing level ends up being more time-consuming than challenging."

Basically because she screws up when controlling Crash, the game sucks. Also, she expects the game to pat her on the back in the motorcycle levels. "It's OK you didn't win and finished in 3rd, 5th, or 8th place. Here's your crystal you don't deserve".

"That frustration is multiplied by old-school game structure. Many modern platformers give you options, and let you choose different paths according to your preference and skill level. With Crash, there are no other ways to move ahead or progress, no other levels you can play except the ones you’ve already finished. You just have to play it over and over until you win. "

In other words, being expected to be good at the game is a chore and is outdated. Stuff like this is why you can finish the last level of Rayman Legends early on just from playing the first few levels well enough. Stuff like this is why dying only a few times in new Mario games gives you a super item to beat the level with no effort. This is why video games have become too easy, because reviews drive sales and modern reviewers are crybabies who don't like to lose at video games.

@Gelugon_baat: so you never buy old movies that you enjoy re-released on Blu Ray because they could just make new Blu rays instead? You've never gone to see a film on the big screen that you enjoy but weren't able to because you weren't born at the time the movie was originally released? You've never played any of Nintendo's re-releases of old games with better graphics? You're not going to enjoy the update of Metroid 2 due later this year?

If your answer to all those is "no". That's fine, and OK if you only have taste for new games. But some people want these old games to come back with a fresh coat of paint. Just the same as movies get re-released and re-packaged or up-resed so that my 5 year old nephew can enjoy Toy Story 1 in HD the same as I loved the original on VHS 20 years ago, the same as I can enjoy the Crash Bandicoot N sane Trilogy the same as I loved the originals on PS1 20 years ago. It's alright if you don't like the same things as others, but you can at least give it a fair criticism other than criticizing it for not making changes nobody asked for.

@Gelugon_baat: no, we want the reviewer to give the game a 6 for reasons other than "the game is too hard and I suck at it".

@Prats1993: I'm pretty sure you're only saying this because you were no good at the games.

@dctcool: why exactly is it mediocre compared to other 3D platformers? Because it's linear? Because it's different? Because it's more focused on timing and reflexes than on missions? Do you say the same about re-releases of old games on the online Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft stores? And why is it a mistake when people have been asking for this for years, and their request was fulfilled and they are more or less happy with it? A "mistake" would be if the ones who asked for it didn't get what they wanted. They did, and thus the ill-informed opinions of others such as yourself are irrelevant to the audience for this game.

Peep that 80 Metacritic on gamespot's sister site, by the way.

@mathi4s: you're missing my point. What I said is what he said, as well as translating what he said.

@jimabadon: but that doesn't mean you should not review the game based on its merits without letting your personal tastes influence it.

@mathi4s: this has nothing to do with Sony. It's about Crash, and about Brown giving flimsy reasoning for the score he gave. His complaints boiled down to "outdated" (read: he doesn't personally like this type of game) and to "too difficult" (read: he sucks and blamed the game). Extremely flimsy and stupid.
