@okassar Absolutely. That's why the ending was such a disappointment for me. Usually third installments are the most likely to let you down, but the game built up the excitement and the anticipation, and then "that" happened.

I'd be lying if I ever claimed a sequel or prequel didn't intently interest me though.

@mdnthrvst If the "terminator baby" had been the end to the series I'd have been disappointed but there's nothing wrong with replicating the ending of the first chapter in the last if you do it well. I won't even say I didn't like the IM section but the original ending sounds much more satisfying than choosing red, green, blue.

The ending they tried had some great ideas in it but, the execution was lacking, IMO. Between the two I'd have taken a traditional boss fight followed by some story elements.

"Wow, an epic boss fight with a shadowy character of questionable morals that has been more and more exposed over two games and has now fallen further thean we could have expected? Nah, give me a button choice boss fight against a trumped up HD Component cable." - said Casey Hudson and no one else ever.

There is nothing wrong with clichés as long as you do them well. A boss fight against the Illusive Man could have been an epic conclusion as a way for Shep to go out in a blaze of glory if they were really intent on killing Shep off.

There is also the psychological fact that we, as human beings, can't stand that there are things we cannot control. When someone shoots up a school we need to be able to place blame somewhere on something tangible. It was violent movies, rap music, video games, etc. Sometime's stuff just happens, people do horrible despicable things.

I had many a psychology, law, and policy professor who point out that the media immediately goes straight to "games caused this," instead of thinking that maybe these kinds of people are attracted to these types of games and would have done this anyway. It is the natural human state to need to blame something. Now, we are 20-30 years into a cycle where we've been told video games cause violence without a lot of hard evidence to back that claim that Johnny-do-good will become a serial killer if he plays GTA V.

I see this as good news. If EA keeps purging all of the talented folks from BioWare they can just get the band back together under a new company name.

I'll hold my reaction until it hits. I thought Arkham Asylum was going to be crap based on early reports and it knocked my proverbial socks off, then Arkham City upped the ante.

I'd still rather see a sequel with a different villain pulling all of the strings. The devs could use Hush, Troika, Knightfall, Cataclysm, No Man's Land, Bruce Wayne: Murderer, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory. All of them are multi-episode sweeping stories that are well known and examine the characters past or foreshadow his future and play on the man versus the hero and use a lot of the rogues gallery which is needed for a long lasting game with multiple boss fights.

@gq_cjc You can shake your head all you want but Sony did invent Blu Ray and Microsoft would have to pay a licensing fee to the Blu Ray Association which is the progeny of the Blu Ray Founders, of which Sony is the lead company since they invented UDO (now dead tech) and DVR Blue, which evolved into Blu Ray Disc with the assistance of the Founders and eventually the Association.

The Association gets a licensing fee from Microsoft and Sony gets the majority cut from the Association.

@jsmoke03 Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. But the larger point that you skimmed by is that if Greg had simply said, "Hey look we made decisions to make the most authentic game we could while maximizing profits," then McShea's entire line of shouting would have been moot.

Instead he starting trying to shout patriotism and respect for the troops instead of really answering the questions put forward which makes them both look dumb.

Any dev that sits there and says anything except, "We made a choice that we think will maximize profits," is a filthy liar. Tom latches way to hard onto the regenerating health when Greg was practically begging him to ask something like, "Okay so do we see the divorce rates/suffering/failures/death/PTSD/political posturing and crap that get countries into war in the first place?"

It's two guys who both refuse to compromise on a silly point and both come off looking all the more foolish for it.

I for one will not be quiet about the absolute lies told by BioWare. If it were just that I didn't like the ending of the story and demanded it to be rewritten, a la Misery, that'd be one thing but, we fans were straight lied to by BioWare.

What about this gem by Casey Hudson: "It's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C." Although, I guess he's right. Technically, it was actually R, B, or G. Well played Mr. Hudson.

Then there is this: "At this point, people need to know what’s going to happen with these characters, they need to know what’s going to happen in the end." When asked if he meant every character he responded with, "Yeah, yeah, exactly."

Or this ultra damning statement: "Um… You know, at this point, I think we’re co-creators with the fans."

But hey, guess we should all just shut up and be happy we get anything at all. Right Mr. Sinclair?
