@reznik00: Google exclusive definition, click translations and more definitions. What does the THIRD definition say?

For the lazy...

3.) Exclusive (adj.) - Catering or available to only a few, select people.

Words can mean more than one thing. So, are we going to apologize to the nice journalist?

And people in the industry have used these terms for DECADES, I got into a row on this very site maybe a decade ago with an agenda driven PC loving moderator who wanted to ban the term "console exclusive" from system wars. So no, Phil Spencer didn't "make it up" this generation.

Sony slapped the words "CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE" in big letters on multiple games during the PS5 game reveal during the summer, including on Godfall, Oddworld Soulstorm, Ghostwire, Deathloop, and Bugsnax (Then in most cases, in tiny little letters at the bottom, timed exclusive).

I used to play with an inverted Y-Axis throughout the 90's, but eventually settled in to what became the default camera. Most first person games I played back then, whether Star Fox, or Tie Fighter, or even older arcade games like After Burner, or really old ones like Star Wars had inverted controls.

I wrote a short paper once about various game perspectives for a Physics of Light and Color course in college, but I can't remember the context, something about rates of adaptability for shifting visual perspectives, and I was using games as an example. It was twenty years ago.

I really like the concept of a cheaper portable minus features that aren't for everyone, but why does it have to be so ugly?

@GONtheSKYLORD @Seiki_sands I'm willing to bet Sony didn't see it as imperative to monetize playtime on their consoles because MMOs have had success doing it (especially since MMOs are moving away from that model). If so, they would have started doing so years ago seeing as how a division of their own company publishes some of those MMOs. They did it because they were inspired by the money made by their console competitor.

Sony borrowed paid online from MS.

MS borrowed and expanded on Sony's online pass program.

Both of these companies bring out the worst in each other.

Consumers are left to bounce around trying to find the least bad option. I've upgraded my PC and will be skipping the console launches. I'll pick them up later for their exclusives. This is pretty unusual for me. In the past I would buy the consoles early to get bang for my buck hardware-wise and then upgrade my PC mid-generation. I'm exasperated with trying to keep track of the various ways executives are trying to scam me.

@mrboone01 Watsi isn't worthwhile? All they do is crowd-source vital treatments to extremely needy people. Isn't that what the greedy capitalists usually say they would prefer instead of socialized medicine?

Kudos to EA. The Sims 3 Starter still sells quite well and the $6 million in sales so far speaks to the demand for the games in the bundle as a whole. Of course this a great thing they're doing. Probably the kindest thing I've seen from a major publisher in a long time. I just hope Valve is matching their generosity and waiving the ~30% they usually charge for each sale of these games on Steam for the Steam codes, otherwise not only is EA promoting a competitor and not making a profit, but they're also shelling a pretty big sum of their own money.

I don't think I've been alone in expecting, even assuming, this news would come to pass since the day they announced Playstation Plus. They were obviously softening people up to the idea of paying for online services. They've been heavily in the business of online passes for several years now, well before MS announced their plans for the XB1 that seems to have infuriated everyone. Both of these companies just take the worst of each other and make it their own. At least they also force each other to take the little bit of good they do and extend it a la MS will now be giving away free games on a regular basis as well.

Mixed messages.

"And because you sometimes need to have things positioned perfectly for a particular solution you have in mind to work, it can be difficult to know if the concept you're working with won't work, or if you're just not executing it well enough. As a result, you can waste a lot of time experimenting with bad ideas, or give up on sound ideas that didn't work because you didn't have all the pieces in exactly the right spot."

Isn't that a description of what puzzle-platforming is all about, a mix of logic and dexterity. You aren't suppose to get the instant a-ha gratification of the puzzle genre proper, where once you've solved the puzzle you simply move on to the next puzzle. You also have the challenge of executing the solution you think might be the right one. I get that the reviewer has some problems with the implementation of that action element being too floaty, but given the value, the prettiness, and the at least somewhat satisfying progression (the reviewer spoke of gaining satisfying abilities through collection) I would think the game is at least average, which at this site has been about a 7.0 for many years now. And to me, and this may sound a little odd, the floaty nature is something which I thought seemed to fit the vibe of the game, it's art direction and magical and not overly serious trappings, as opposed to taking me out of the title it actually contributed to sucking me in.

@yourmate Even after the initial tear-downs we know very little about the Wii-U's stats, yet I've seen this same comment about "barely rivals specs..." made hundreds of times in articles about the system going back to its announcement. Stop making stuff up. Am I the only one who played games like Gun and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland at the X-Box 360's launch? Because I could have made the same nonsense statements then about it barely rivaling current systems as you're making now, as a matter of fact now that I think about it a bunch of people then did say the same thing calling the X-Box 360 the X-Box 1.5, they were silly people.
