Like others I keep having problems with getting email spam about "new comments".

Spend another 30-40 minutes clearing out my webmail yesterday.

Sometimes clicking "Unfollow" after making a comment works and sometimes it doesn't.

Some articles just REFUSE to let me unfollow no matter how many times I try (clearing browser caches etc). I've tried different days too to see if it makes a difference but some articles just seem glitched.

I also agree with Jeremy. I've said it before. It's pretty annoying if you write a long comment just to have it deleted and getting kicked back to the main page after you login.

Speaking of logging in...

go to gamespot.com -> Get blinded by the bright lights. Change to the dark theme -> open an article and it's back to white so you decide to login just to be able to browse the site without eyeburn.

Same thing if you start by logging in.

First it's white so you change to black then login and the bastard changes it back and the button gets stuck so I have to reload the page to make it work.

I know you like to blame LiveFyre for your problems but these issues with the comment section and the mail spam came with the new site.

I'd really appreciate it if you fixed it SOON. Who knows how many mails bounced because my mailbox keeps getting filled with your spam.

So I guess Danny-O gave up on the Amiga union then.

While it wasn't a very active union I'm still sad to see it go.

@foxrock66: Temporary fix, manually unfollow the article every time you comment.

Sadly this doesn't seem to be working properly. I unfollow then the next time I check the page it says I'm still following it.

Spent another 40 minutes deleting emails today.

@edgework I hate to place blame but its not really our fault. We use Livefyre for comments

I know livefyre is being blamed for this but I ask you then what has changed with livefyre because this problem started for me after gamespot remade the site. Before that it was fine.

I'll just stop posting completely till they fix it then and hope they tell me when it's fixed. Thanks for the workaround suggestion.

How about you don't get any frikken minus karma for flagging until it's been checked if you were correct in flagging it or not.

The sane system would be: You flag - > it's just a regular post and the mod marks you with bad karma. If you get enough bad karma you get a warning or temp ban OR the post you flagged is indeed worthy of flagging and a mod deletes it and if you have bad karma you regain a point of good karma.

Why in the world would someone get minus karma before it's been determined if they did good or bad. Makes absolutely no sense.

I'm sure this has been reported before but since nothing has been done about it and it's a big problem for me I'll post it again:

I've turned off all email notifications in my settings afaik (even though I'd like some of them to function). Yet every time someone -anyone- comments in an article I've made a single comment in I get an email.

So if I make the first comment and the article ends up getting 1000 comments total I'll find 999 emails in my in box.

So if I make a total of 10 comments in different articles my webmail, that I don't really check more than a couple of times per month, will get fullwith thousands of shit emails and more important mail will bounce.

Not to mention it's a pain to sort through and delete all the junk.

PLEASE fix this ASAP. It's been going on for weeks and my settings doesn't seem to influence it at all from what I can tell.

Hi! The dark background only seems to work when logged in.

Tested in the following way using Firefox with cookies enabled on win 64 ult:

www.gamespot.com

blinding white theme loads

click the "impossible to know about if nobody told you it was there" button in the right corner to change to the dark theme.

theme changes to comforting, easy on the eyes, darker setting.

open a new page or reload and it's back to mogwai hurting bright lights once again.

---

If I'm logged in while doing the same then the dark theme sticks around.

@DigitalDame: Apart from all the bugs there are some features I'd like to see.

Rather than typing a novel about all of them I'd pick just one for this time :P

The videoplayer currently resizes with the window if I click "enlarge". This is a lovely feature but here's the problem.

It has a maximum size. Why? Why can't it continue to expand with the window it's in. I'm aware I could make the video fill out the entire window but then I can't read the comments.

Suggestion: Remove the maximum video size for the "enlarge" video option and let it expand with the border of the browser window.

1.

Wrote a comment & clicked post. Was prompted to login (forgot).

Logged in successfully with the popped up prompt. Result: Successful login but got kicked back to the main page and when I navigated back to the article my comment was nowhere to be found.

2.

Tried to find Community News Update from earlier this month.

Couldn't find it so I used the search function.

Searched for "Community News Update"

Checked "Article"

Sort By: Recent

Results: Community News Update 10/4, 10/2, 9/25 (and earlier)

Used Google and searched for +site:Gamespot.com Community News Update 10/

Results: 10/18, 10/16, 10/14, 10/4, 10/2

--

3.

Located post I made in earlier Community News Update 10/14 about not being able to change avatar for article comments.

I know I got a response to it from Francy (thanks Francy) saying the issue was going to be fixed in the next few days.

I know I replied to Francy but neither her initial reply or mine were to be found. I tried reloading the page a couple of times but only my original question showed up.

Wondering if reply is gone because issue is not being fixed or if comments are gone because of bugs.

4.

Tried the search function again. Noticed that my choice of "Sort By: Recent" is reset to "Relevance" once I go to page 2 of the search. If I reselect "Recent" while on page 2 I'm kicked back to page 1 of the search results, again. There are numerous other issues with the search engine but I hope you're already aware.

Grats to the winners.

As for the new consoles I'll definitely wait till there are more games.

Remembering the 360 RROD and the PS3 YLOD solder/heating issue and the bad bluray of last gens launch.

Plus I have a nice PC to game on :3
