Rage.

There are half a dozen others, but you asked for just one. So one is all I will give.

[QUOTE="AncientDozer"]I did both. Why not? When I want to play by myself, I could. When I wanted to play with others, I could. And, as far as I remember, my single player character didn't get deleted after a time of inactivity. I believe I lost trang Owl's avatar because of that after leaving gaming behind the real world for a spell.AncientDozer

Hey that's actually a good point. I don't even want to think about the gear I let go to the abyss... here's to hoping there's no character expiry this go around.

Oh, and now I know someone who actually did both. When I played SP, it was online, in a pass-protected game. Because playing hardcore single player was pointless.

I was never really into challenge, myself. I liked exploring, story, and beating things up to make myself feel good. That's not to say I shirk away from fighting people in competitive matches but when it came to games like Diablo or Elder Scrolls or, I don't know, bayonetta. I just wanted to live the high life as a hero doing flashy things.

I didn't explain myself clearly. I never entered into PvP battle by choice, and chose to climb level and find gear in hardcore for the sheer exhilaration of knowing permanent death lurked around every single corner in hell difficulty. So my "single player" experience was playing solo in a private game, interrupted by the occasional co-op high-level mission/run with a friend or two.

Why not just separate SP and MP characters? :?

Vesica_Prime

They did this (sep SP and MP) in Diablo II, and the big problem was that you either did one or the other, but I never met anyone who did both. Because you couldn't share gear between your single player char and your online char, so what was the point?

People seem to bemoan the online-all-the-time aspect of this, but having played WAY too many Diablo II hours than I care to remember, I say it's perfect. When I played, I only played online (but in private password protected games) anyways. There was no reason to play single player offline. People are coming up with crazy hypotheticals to complain (what if the internet connection goes out?, what if i'm on a plane?), but... really... how often does that apply?

I have been wondering about that controller(Gioteck HF-2).....glad to hear it works well(so far). Where did you get it & how much was it?stepheng77

I picked it up at Target for $45. More than I wanted to spend, but 10 bucks less than my other option, which was another Dual Shock. I was meaning to get a second controller anyways, and this seemed like a safe bet. I figured that if I didn't like it, I could still use the DS3 and let my wife (or whoever else was co-op) use it. Or just return it for the Target we-don't-ask-questions refund.

Low and behold, it actually worked just as well as the DS3, except with real triggers! I keep harping on that point, but the DS3 is really clumsy for FPS. The design of the Playstation controller dates back to the original Playstation FIFTEEN YEARS AGO, when the use of R2/L2 triggers was unheard of, and it was a decade away from using a "trigger" for shooting. Using the "flip" switch to swap top triggers with bottom triggers is perfect.

Great controller. Highly recommend it.

Ok don't listen to people saying the Dual Shock is the best. First off, the controller was built before the FPS era, and is showing it's age. It's fine for a bluray remote, but after that it gathers dust...

Check out the Gioteck HF-2. It's blootoof right out the box (not requiring a dongle/usb plug of any sort), has zero lag (because there is no such thing as lag in blootoof, guys), and has a little switch that flips the R1 with the R2 and the L1 with the L2. So suddenly you have triggers that actually are reliable. Imagine that!!!

I've had the HF-2 for a month or so, and really like it. Can't speak about the other controller, because i've never seen or heard of it.

One other thing. . . . the publishers say (either directly or indirectly) that the the online pass is merely meant to attack used sales, not the consumer.

WHY would a publisher want to attack GameStop, which is likely their BIGGEST retailer? That logic makes no sense. A healthy retailer is in the publisher's best interests. Publishers doing this are showing they desire more of GameStop's profits.

I see a time soon when GameStop either 1) puts an offending publisher's games at the bottom of the shelves or 2) removes a publisher's games altogether. In this case, as strange as it seems, I'd support GameStop.

Bad bad BAD all the way. I support the publisher by putting my hard earned dollars towards their game.

You might say "well then a free online pass does not affect you", but I see where this is going. How long before the publisher sells me a new copy and requires me to pay 5, 10, or 15 (ahem, Activision) to play online too?

That time is coming. It's a slippery slope. Start the slide that direction, and it can go in many ways. All out of the consumer's control.

Blockbuster is good.

3 movies/games out for $19.95 a month (they have Blu Rays)

Or just use Netflix streaming, that's what I do.

There's plenty of good stuff to watch.

ZombieKiller7

I've been using Netflix since it came out in '98, and therefore I've boycotted and spoken badly of Blockbuster, but I may have to cancel my mail program with Netflix and try theirs. And just pay for unlimited streaming.

Some may say i'm complaining, but my service went from $15 to $25 to $27 and now to $35. $35 a month is a lot, all claims of whining aside.

Because it's cool to hate popular things. :PJasonDarksavior

Amen to that. It's total you're-not-the-boss-of-me syndrome. Reverse peer pressure.
