Wow, a lot of interesting line-ups. It's not so surprising to see everyone, literally, putting Kobe at the 2 spot, and almost everyone seems to have the beast, Howard, as Center. Chris Bosh seems to be the most popular as the PF, and that is rightfully so considering he is prolly the only true PF out there.

What is very interesting is that everyone also has Kidd as PG. I totally agree with this, but I think it is an interesting consensus considering he can't really shoot, Billups was a finals MVP, and Williams is coming off a stellar year. I think Kidd's veteran experience is gonna be key though, and the most important thing is that he is good at rebounding, which is going to be important in international play with all the jump shots that will be taken leading to long rebounds.

Well I have Kidd coming from the bench, Billups starting.

Whoops, sorry about that :p, I just got a little over-excited, I guess. I think that the most interesting selection will be for the center spot. All three players are great in different ways. Chandler is a good rebounder and defender, Amare is probably the most explosive center out there, and Howard is a beast of all trades.

I actually just started watching baseball a couple years ago, and I'm an A's fan, but I had Biggio in my top ten list just because of how likeable he was and the fact that he was a true baseball player. No issues, the guy just went out and played. Awesome player and it is going to suck seeing him go, but I agree that he is doing it at the right time and in the right way.

Kinda unlike a certain OF that shall remain unnamed that limps around in the grass once the ball is hit his way. :P

I'm goin' with the NBA. I'll admit that football is great, but I've been a basketball fan longer, and I actually play basketball pretty often. I just started watching the NFL a few years ago, and just recently started watching baseball.

The FIBA Championships are coming up soon, and I think the US has got to do better than bronze if they want to really prepare for the olympics. So, of the 17 players available to join, who do you guys think the roster of 12 players should include, and who should the starters be? The 17 players trying out are:

  • G Jason Kidd
  • G Deron Williams
  • G Chauncey Billups
  • G J.J. Redick
  • G Kevin Durant
  • G Kirck Hinrich
  • G Kobe Bryant
  • G-F Michael Redd
  • G-F Carmelo Anthony
  • G-F Mike Miller
  • F Shane Battier
  • F Tayshaun Prince
  • F Lebron James
  • F Chris Bosh
  • C Amare Stoudemire
  • C Dwight Howard
  • C Tyson Chandler
I think the team should be this with 1-5 as the starters, and 6-12, in no particular order, the reserves.

  1. Jason Kidd - he's got experience, rebounds and defends, but the lack of shooting may hurt although the international 3-pt line may help.
  2. Kobe Bryant - defense and scoring, but gotta hope he doesn't hog the ball too much.
  3. Shane Battier - I wanted to put Lebron here, but I think he'd be a huge spark off the bench and may collide with Kobe. Shane fits well because of his defense and shooting.
  4. Chris Bosh - the only true PF on the squad, and he can rebound, shoot, and defend decently.
  5. Dwight Howard - this was tough, but I think I'm gonna give Dwight the nod because of his shot-blocking and rebounding.
  6. Lebron James - the everyman's player off the bench, he can come in and take up almost any role (minus shooter :p).
  7. Melo - The team needs good slashing scorers to keep the defense on their toes.
  8. Deron Williams - sorry Kirk, but I just think that Deron is a better true PG and is coming off a hot playoff performance.
  9. Amare Stoudemire - The importance here is that Amare is mobile, I don't think USA can succeed with a big guy just clogging the paint.
  10. Tayshaun Prince - The team needs defense and Prince is the perfect choice for that, and he can score a little bit, but most importantly, he's a great role-player.
  11. Mike Miller - role-player, shooter, and good defender.
  12. Chauncey Billups - may not have had the best playoff year, but he is Mr. Clutch and can be the difference toward the end of close games. I still think that he'll make the best decisions when it comes to who shots the last shot of a close game.
So those are my nods, but post what you think, and who you feel should be on the team.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice. I was going to get her a Canon sd1000, but she didn't really like the way it looked (I personally like grippage too, but she wants something uber-tiny and sleek), so I guess we settled on the CyberShot . I think it'll work out slightly better just because it has different color options.
I appreciate all the help.

Okay, maybe I should rephrase this. She likes taking pictures, not profressional photos. She takes pictures of friends, gatherings, stuff like that. I didn't mean that she was a diehard photographer (otherwise, I wouldn't be buying the camera for her). I guess I should have been more specific about that, and she actually knows less than I do about digital cameras.

What about this one?

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up, and she loves taking pictures, but still doesn't have a digital camera. I was thinking about getting one, and we were just gonna get whatever seemed like a good deal, but with all the new stuff out I'm not really sure where to start. I've heard that Canon is the best brand, and that I need to have image stablization now if I want my money's worth. I don't know if either of those statements is true or not, but what I do know is that I can spend between 200-250 and the camera needs to be pretty small and box-like (or whatever you call the kind that is flat like a deck of cards).

Thanks, in advance!

I've had a laptop for about 3 years, and I am going to make a new desktop soon. Having had a laptop for so long though, I have no idea what a good monitor is these days, so can anyone give me an idea of what I should be looking for with about a 170-200 dollar budget? It's going to be used for gaming (I'm not sure that that matters or not).
