It might be ok... I don't think sonic games, old or new, have ever really nail their gameplay down solidly. It might be good to go back to the simpler older 2d gameplay and polish that off.
Any game that involves leaving the comfort of your home would place you in a slight increased amount of danger. Let's compare Pokemon Go with other outdoor activities like kids playing out in the park or going skating.
It's a shame that simply leaving your house at night is something that's viewed with suspicion. Perhaps games like Pokemon Go will help change that perception.
@Atzenkiller: Apple did not invent the mouse, the graphical based os. They stole the core concept of the iphone from a sony engineer. Tablets existed before apple. Microsoft had pinch to zoom. Docks, grids of icons and rounded corners all existed before apple.
Despite never inventing anything they still tried suing everyone for "Copying" because they felt like they had developed the market for that tech and others were taking what they felt to be their sales.
An idea doesn't have to be difficult to be ground-breaking. In fact many of the most ground breaking developments are quite simple. The wii motes were simple and sony could have copied them quickly. A combination of getting around patents and developing the software was probably a reason for the delay.
Sony quickly copied the analogue thumb stick and that probably did make a big difference to the ps vs n64 battle.
Gamepads were simple to copy too.
It's only because sony had both the ps4 and vita, and that they had similar interfaces, that off tv play was simple to copy.
@Gravity_Slave: Yes. it shifted games. It got press about how it was even sold to grannys and retirement homes but that was a tiny minority of wii's sold. Kids were the primary audience.
