@gameroutlawzz: I really enjoyed collecting the coins. Simple and with limited content, but I might rate it higher than nsmbu. Certainly shows you could have a truly great Mario game that is in this runner style.
It takes multiple play throughs of the levels to collect all the stuff so I expect it'll last much longer than 2 hours before I'm finished with it. Its value might be debatable but I do appreciate it not being built around micro transactions. It will likely get more than enough play-time to justify the initial cost and it does make me want to go back to nsmbu for the first time in a long time.
From the get go it's noticeably better than that Rayman runner which, for me, seems like the nearest comparison. It is what it is and although it has had some real thought and effort put into its gameplay, and does require some skill effort to collect all the pink coins, it is limited by its nature. It's casual, quick to pick up, suitable for short bursts and simple to play. I do see it staying on my phone a long time so no regrets so far.
I'd have to play far longer to give a proper verdict.
@enderandroid: Childish console wars. Unfortunately to be expected what ever brand console is released.
Battery is something they could easily mess up. The wii u's gamepad was terrible for battery life and they might not give it the right priority as it should on the switch as some will play this more as a home console. That said their handhelds have always done well for battery life.
That and the potentially awkward d pad replacement are my main concerns.
It looks slick though. I like it's design and it seems to have a clear message unlike the wii u.
@zeeroah: Sounds like some kind of projection. Try thinking... and perhaps rereading your asinine drivel before you click post and inflict it on the rest of us.
@logicalfrank: Good point. Overall it seems great, but d pads are my preferred way of controlling 2d platformers and Nintendo produce a fair amount of them... Not to mention indies. I'll have to try it to see how those buttons feel.
@zeeroah: Please. There have been about 5 3d Mario platformers in all time. You have twice as many gta's as you do 3d Marios. Maybe it's not your thing but 3d Marios have hardly been milked.
Anyway as a PC gamer this (and generally handhelds of which there are no real rivals) are the only consoles I'm interested in I mustn't be hardcore enough for you.
@mkeezay22: I didn't want to sound so negative. It would have certainly consumed far more of my play time than some of the games included on the Mini NES... if it had been included.
It's challenging, precise and, gameplay wise, a little different.
Nintendo published it, but I think it was a port of an arcade game so they probably don't have the rights.
