How many of these stats are from people playing the free demo, or people who bought then returned the game in the first day through EA's Great Game Guarantee???
Hopefully between this about-face and the horrible always-on DRM faildog of the latest SimCity, companies will stop trying to force everyone online all the time. Do I like being online? Absolutely? But not constantly.
I might buy the new SimCity but only if they remove the always-online requirement, add multiple local saves, and have larger cities without paying for additional content. None of those features means NO BUY for me.
"always-on DRM for gamers' benefit" -- Yeah, right. I call total BS on that. I have loved the SimCity franchise for years and have always bought legal copies. Guess EA is determined to alienate me with the always-on DRM, though, so I won't be buying it. Besides not always being near a dependable connection, I prefer to play games like this solo, without other people bothering me and potentially screwing up what I've spend hours building.
@jcopp72 I've been a big Nintendo fan for many years and got the Wii immediately upon release, but I think I'll wait too and see if the price drops and what the game lineup is. I got my 3DS at release too and then the price dropped significantly a few months later. Right now I'm enjoying my Xbox and Kinect too much to get a whole new system.
