They seem to be implying throughout this that because LOTR wasn't created with Video Games in mind (was Star Wars?) that the source content is not exciting enough to be used... What a terrible shame that that's the attitude they've got for quite literally the most expansive work of fiction created by a single person. Here's a masterpiece that took someone a lifetime to - not even - complete, but nahhh, it's dull, we have to create a load of rubbish to make gamers want to play it. I appreciate they're limited to content from the films and the films' appendices, but not only do they discuss a huge amount of lore in the appendices, but the films are some of the most decorated in cinema history. It's quite honestly inexcusable to suggest that the source material is somehow inadequate for the use in a video game. There are a million and one different video game ideas that could be built from what's available to them /end rant
@G-Corleone: Agree with this. Seems likely their evolution, not revolution, approach has failed to attract people who were either sceptical of the first, but bought it anyway to experience something so innovative, or people who were completely burnt out by D1 and needed something entirely new to bring them back in.
Glad to hear there's a small but tight knit community following this game. It's as it should be. Granted they tried to bite off more than they could chew, but they're small (relative to the big players at least) and deserve a relatively sized fan base.
@scottyp360: I would have assumed you don't have to have Jedi parents to have a high midichlorian count. Hence why it is said Luke was training up a whole new group of Jedi before everything went pair shaped.
@ricku1967: I think that's fair enough. You hit the nail the on the head with the originality view, and I agree that it's all too possible that Rey is in the Skywalker bloodline. The only slight difference for me is that I'd view Rey being a Skywalker as unoriginal, but other than that, completely agree with what you've said.
@ricku1967: Never said that at all. If the direction they take from here going forward (note, not looking backward) is that path, then I'll be disappointed in the direction. Absolutely fine with the originals and the prequels being based around Anakin and his son, but if, say, Rey turns out to be Luke's daughter I think they'll have taken it too far and in my opinion will have undermined the story of TFA somewhat. In my opinion (once again) I would prefer to see a Star Wars that was a genuine galactic story rather than a glorified family drama - and from TFA I had high hopes that that was the case.
"It's a great next chapter in the iconic Skywalker family saga." - That doesn't sound good to me... For me the worst direction they could take it, personally at least, is down the 'Whole universe revolves around the Skywalker bloodline' path.
