The acting on this trailer is abysmally flat, worst CGI and design of aliens I have ever seen, the whole thing reeks of fakeness and looks cheap.

I don't think this will help promoting the game much..

Playing this game non stop the last three days, its pretty good but it has a steep learning curve which might enstrange the more casual crowd.

The upgrades like mentioned in the review are very difficult to aquire, I've managed so far to get to mission 10 with all upgrades unlocked, but it wasn't easy at all. I almost gave up on a couple of missions, but with perseverence and sheer determination I finally got past them.

The game demands both skill and patience, as you need to figure out how to go about to get to your goal, more often than not by the skin of your teeth, which makes it all the more rewarding when you pull it through.

If you enjoyed games like Wing Commander and can deal with its sometimes brutal difficulty without popping a vein, you should definitely try this out.

The secret of enjoying MMORGS is playing in numbers, I am sick and tired of whiners that complain about getting zerged in these games.

NEWSFLASH this is what its all about kiddos, in a real life similar situation the exact same thing would happen, peeps would band together to stay alive and defend themselves, everybody else would be fair game.

Anybody foolish enough to wander around alone would get unceremoniously snuffed in the blink of an eye for their loot.

Very intriguing and original title...:/

I hope it does better story wise, a good RPG cannot go far with a shallow story whatever art direction (which doesn't look groundbreaking either) graphics or combat system it may sport.

Personally I don't understand the appeal of this add-on, the game has enough difficulty options as is, this is just redundant for most gamers that play the game.At least they have the decency to distribute it free.

On the other hand one or two new soldier classes, a couple of new maps and tweaking of the UFO attacks to make them more challenging would have made for much more enticing replayability.

@aligatorhardt Your opinion is as legitimate as anyone else that prefers FC2 over FC3.

But, the part you complain about I have yet to encounter, after 15 or so hours of totaly free gameplay so i will suppose it's just a small part in the game, on the other hand I dropped FC2 after 2 hours of playing because of the idiotic malaria mechanic, and the endlessly respawning bullet sponge mobs.

My other major complain about FC2 AI, is their unbalanced reaction, you could mostly walk right up to them and they would be oblivious to your presence but once ONE spotted you, every other mob in the area would immediately know exactly where you where and shoot you even if you where behind cover.

Different strokes for different folks I guess but judging by the other posts you must aknowledge that concerning FC2 to FC3 comparisons you are in the minority.

@Ariefb4 Although the suppressed sniper rifle is more practical at times with its penetrative one shot double kills, it is immensly satisfying to put an arrow through someones neck with a 70 meter carefully aimed shot, can't wait until I unlock the special explosive and fire tips. Bow with tribal paint job FTW.

@neuroboy @Lucasdxx I appreciate the positive feedback.

Also allow me to stress that FC3 being GOTY is only my personal opinion and I have no intention to downplay other great titles that have quenched our gaming appetites this year (Borderlands 2 and Dishonored among my top choices). It is just that FC3 scratched an itch that I was starting to believe would be neglected for a long time.

@Dedpheeno Playing long game sessions that games like FC3 mainly require will give you headaches on 3D (whatever the quality of your gear), and are bad for your eyes too.

Imho, a relatively short play session on a simulator game for example is more agreeable to appreciate 3D gaming, and not addictive time hogs like FC3.

The most addictive FPS I have played in years, when I start playing I find it extremely difficult to tear myself away before I "liberate" one more outpost or get that skin that will allow me to upgrade my gear one more notch.

Despite some being generic, the RPG elements are well balanced and give enough options to look forward to upgrading your character's skills, especially the melee takedown skills that are a blast to utilize and give immense satisfaction when executed correctly.

Although the world is big enough it never feels overwhelming and the things to do are plenty and varied without getting convoluted, after the initial shock of being stranded on a hostile open world things fall into place nicely and you're moving along this island frontier feeling increasingly at home, which is perfectly in touch with your character's development and the general immersion in his castaway world.

The story although not very original is albeit enganging and there is a good dose of anticipation for what is to come and if the hero will succeed in what he initially set out to do, and during that process also liberate the island from the pirates that oppress the locals.

I find Mr. VanOrd's review agreeable, and personally vote this game as GOTY.
