Picasso never cared much about pleasing the masses and making money. He wanted to make a statement. Just my personal opinion, I know it doesn't count and I am no expert but I find Picasso's later paintings to be similar to the scrawlings of a 5 year old, they are plain awful ugly. Dali is more to my taste but that is totaly subjective and off topic so I will regress in respect of your opinion.
About videogames I can honestly say I have a much more profficient view as I have been playing them for over 30 years, and I can tell you they where never a true art form.
In the beginning they where drawn with vector graphics, and used simplistic computer bleeps as audio which didn't leave much room for artistic expression. Their main aim as a medium at the time was to have some fun and display that a computer could be used for more than complex calculations .
Thankfully, at some point, with the advancement of tech, they started to employ art in the design, 2d rendering visuals and finally real music was used for audio.. but that is where it stops, their main function was still to entertain.
Essentially they always had a consumerist aim, meaning money had to be made, there where exceptions to this rule of course but they where few and far apart (i.e.Myst, Riven).
@DrCyclopsX After reading the article I was aiming to make a post explaining to Sinclair the amazing qualities of duct tape and how unrealistic it would be for a trained combatant to not employ such a simple life saving principle in a critical situation.
Btw the running elimination analogy was brilliant, nice way to make a point.
I thank God that there are still other people out there that use common sense.
