#1 Xenogears, #2 Suikoden II, #3 Final Fantasy VII

Story, music, characters, combat, detailed graphics, and hours it take to complete. These 3 are not just my top 3 RPG's but top 3 single player games of all time and this is what gaming should be about. Not some mindless single player shooters that tell you to go from point a to point b, pick what dificulty you want to go through (to cheat through) that last for 6-8 hours top. Once you see the best you'll forever change the way you view games and your standard toward playing em.

When it comes to Planetside 2 what turned me off the most was the hackfest that was out of control. I wonder how things are now regarding that.

It would also help, but won't be necessary to share your reasons for your choices. My last multiplayer F2P PC game was Path of Exile and I had good 3 weeks spent on it. I'll definetely come back to it on November the 20th unless something else by then captures my attention.

For me it was the permadeath thing that made it interesting with character progression. Game though doesn't feel as competitive as I would hoped.

That music, that ambience, that story, those characters....The lenght, the depth, the emotions, the struggle, love and conflict amongst good and evil.

Xenogears, a true masterpiece. Will we ever be fortunate to experience games to such perfection as Xenogears again?

In your opinion, of course. Nothing specific has caught my attention and I might not be looking good enough.

FFVIII, FFIX were glorious because they were long, difficult, emotional and the characters were truly unique. Most importantly Square was on a mission to create the greatest Final Fantasy, not to cash on its success on the previous titles. Where you think the $ came for them to build MMORPG's like FFXI and FFXIV? All on the cost of ruining the genre to appeal to bigger paying audience that would generate far more income with box sale subs and require internet connection. Square only became greedy as time went by and the fact they choose to release the latest sequel FFXIII only for consoles simply said "fk u to all of their fans". Trying to force people to buy console just to enjoy the game, a game that was build on a PC and clearly the PC has all the technology and more for such game, but no GREED and IGNORANCE as usual.

Crysis 2, before that Arkham Asylum. So, long long time for me before I can find a game worthy to stick to the end. Another game I play on and off right now is Civilization 5 Brave New World since it is something truly special and complex with random outcomes and different ways one can play it.

@mmogamegirl:

Star Craft 1. It is without the doubt the most all around epic RTS of all time. Compared to Star Craft 2 the skill difference is enormous. The way races work and units, the music everything is simply perfect. Sadly, Blizzard abandons products that it does not generate revenue from. So I bet map hacks exists. And I bet there isn't much community left, but still thats your best option when it comes to the best RTS. If Star Craft 1 had decent community and support from Blizzard I would jumped into that right now.

And by action I mean when you play the game there is epic action and thrill going on. So it can be racer, shooter, sport simulator, bottom line is it has to have some EPIC ACTION going on. I want to feel the adreline rush through my veins, the tensity. I want to feel like a predator, going on some epic, difficult mission.

Crysis 1 and 2 for me delivered. Arkham Asylam delivered as well (sequels seemed meh). I always enjoyed these type of games since the early ages of gaming. Donkey Kong, Crash team racing, Twisted Metal 3. EPIC MUSIC + EPIC ACTION, all in all EPIC GAME...Civlization 2, Star Craft 1 another examples of truly action packed experiences, yes Civilization 2 made me feel like a true emperor and a rules, so I felt the action.

No wonder people praise Dark Souls 1, even though I haven't played it yet. I heard it's not great without gamepad. I'm thinking about trying Metro Last Light or Far Cry 3 right now or even Fallout New Vegas. I think these games can deliver what I seek. I just like to be involved in the action from start until the end, unless truly the story and characters feel fresh and enjoyable.

If that fails...I'll have to B2P + P2P monthly on Wild Star for good couple of months to see if it's better option than WOW: WOD until Star Citizen (next P2P) and Everquest 3 (next F2P) releases...

So far that's my plan and I got 30 days to find something else that's not B2P/P2P...so I can at least try it and hopefully enjoy it enough to possibly spend $ that's obvioslly not as costly as a B2P + monthly sub MMO in the long run with expansion fees on top.

So, what are your plans and do you have any suggestions?

P.S: As you can see I said a great F2P multiplayer game...not just particulary the traditional MMORPG. So, I'm open to a lot of different genres out there with some progression that feels rewarding playing it in the long run...
