Hey guys,as you can read the title you can probably state your opinion accordingly. Now the topic covers all systems, old or new.Remember,no shoving opinions down each others throats. Tradional meaning Turn-Based.However you can go like "My favorite JRPG is X(x meaning action or Strategy RPG) but my favorite turn based JRPG is XX" So post your opinions down below. My current favorite JRPG is Chrono Trigger, absolute masterpiece.

Too hard to pick just one favourite so some of them are:

  • Lost Odyysey
  • Dragaon Warrior 8
  • Final Fantasy X
  • Final Fantasy VIII
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Chrono Cross

Traditional=/Turn Based for JRPGs. The reason I put it is because a lot of people might have put ARPGs or SRPGs. They basically have their own place. When it comes to JRPGs,the words Turn Based and Traditional are the same thing with a different spelling.Whether I put turn based or traditional it really doesn't matter they mean the same when it comes to JRPGs.

No they're not.... Traditional and Turn Based JRPGs are not the samething with a different spelling..... If anything You're insistence on Using "traditional" is way more confusing.... If you just said Turn Based JRPG then everybody will know thats what you're looking. Unless if thats not all you wanted.

I like FF9 the most. I enjoy the story and the ATB is fun without becoming turn base.

I'm not the biggest fan of this genre (could never get into Final Fantasy or Xenosaga), but every once in a while I find one that clicks for me:

Grandia 2 was the first. There's a lot of strategy to the battle system that makes grinding less important. Plus your position on the battlefield actually matters.

Baten Kaitos: Origins is freaking great and I wish more people played it. On paper it sounds like a card rpg but it really isn't. Putting it into words is difficult because there really isn't anything to compare it to. Just know that it's battle system is the most fast-paced of any jrpg ever. If you have a Gamecube, track down a copy. You will thank me later. Also, it's a prequel so you don't really need to play Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean to enjoy it.

Just started Persona 4 and have been enjoying it so far.

Chrono Trigger and FF9 are the 2 that give me the most pleasant memories. I am not a huge JRPG fan but those two along with Lost Odyssey made me the most happy with my purchase.

#1 Xenogears, #2 Suikoden II, #3 Final Fantasy VII

Story, music, characters, combat, detailed graphics, and hours it take to complete. These 3 are not just my top 3 RPG's but top 3 single player games of all time and this is what gaming should be about. Not some mindless single player shooters that tell you to go from point a to point b, pick what dificulty you want to go through (to cheat through) that last for 6-8 hours top. Once you see the best you'll forever change the way you view games and your standard toward playing em.

I have been meaning to check out Etrain Odyssey. I am a fan of most of Atlus's stuff, but I am curious as to what you found the most appealing about EO.

@Jetset314: If you're a fan of old school dungeon crawlers, you may like it. I also really enjoy making my own maps while I explore. Yeah. Atlus aIways make great games. I believe they're making Persona Q on the 3DS run just like OE.
