When my Dad died, coupled with a horrible job I couldn't get out of, I suffered horrible depression. Games were my escape, and in the long run they helped. I probably played my PC and console in that period then I have in my entire life. I broke a few controllers, as irrational rage was one of my depression symptoms. Although that was bad news for my controller, keyboard or mouse, it was better then lashing out at people or punching holes in the wall.

I have been playing this game since release (well Beta actually). The Gamespot review pretty well nails it. There is lots of little things that make you roll your eyes, but it has this magnetic charm that keeps bringing you back. The co-op play is fun, very fun. Even solo is enjoyable. But roll with 4 or so mates, and you'll have a blast cruising from one event, mission, race and etc. You'll often be driving along and see another group of players mid quest, its great fun to jump out of your roller and give them a hand. Its a MMO that puts fun as its priority. You can share loot, there is not binding to your character. Gives you a car within the first few levels. The pursuit system is too bloody addictive. You're always trying to get that little bit extra. Introduce friends into the mix, and you get a bit of friendly competitiveness happening, to see who can stay on top with their Ego (level) rating.The most recent big patch, and a couple of smaller ones afterward, have fixed a lot the initial big problems.

Im enjoying the game far more than I am the show :P

Will the game last the years like WoW and etc? No. But will it provide fun and entertainment for the not too distant future? Yes, I believe it will.

Defiance is fun. Perfect? No. But it makes a refreshing change from the current super generic, been there done that, fantasy MMOs we have now.

So you're saying this game is shit and you haven't played it? I'm not going to waste my breath and pick apart what you just said.... But, if you had actually played the game you'd know weapons are customizable. I've been using the same LMG since level 1 one. I'm now level 350. Mmm so my friend do a little research before you bag a product. Secondly the game is 60 not 90. Thirdly, all the story quests are prequel to the show. And there is a heap of them.

Its similiar to borderlands, yes. But how is that a bad thing? Its like playing borderlands but with an unlimited number of people.

This a good game. It really has gone under the radar. I have been playing it all weekend with three other mates since its release. Breaks up the "been there done that" feel of most MMOs.

Although I'm not a fan of the series, in fact I really didn't like the second at all. But from listening to this review the 5.0 is a little harsh. Okay sure, the game may be bland and etc, but as Kev said, there is nothing really wrong with it. To put this 0.5 above Colonial Marines, which was both bland AND very badly developed. A ordinary yawn shooter should sit around a 6.5 or 7. Apart from the lack of AI or flare, the game appears solid enough, Kev said so himself. A 5 is a very spiteful score.

But the game is crap. Others are good. Hence consistency. Game reviews aren't a balancing act. And as for big names always getting amazing score...well umm dive back in time and do a little digging. Plenty of big "AAA" titles have come out and flopped, with bad reviews and etc.
