Carolyn I know you may not even see this comment but please please don't give up on gaming or being in the gaming community.
The stupid idiots here making sexist comments are just a very vocal minority who are way too chicken to even consider the concept of a "gamer" is something beyond 20 something males.
The truth is over 40% of gamers are female and no matter how much these idiots want to yell and scream and put you down that will never change. Most gamers are very happy to have folks like your in our community even when we don't agree with you and a few bad apples shouldn't put you off the entire industry.
You do have your supporters who think you have a place here even if a loud section of gamers wants to cry about it.
@June-GS Because insulting the gender of a member of the staff is a great way to not look like a total judgmental jerk. If you don't agree with the score that's ok but Carolyn should be entitled to give her opinion without sexist commentary.
@USSJVegeta I'm not calling you anything let alone something I won't repeat. What I am saying is that she's entitled to her opinon and I'm so tired of people acting like they have some kind of master opinion that everyone else has to listen to.
I think Carolyn deserves applause for always seeming to be that one voice that ends up speaking true in the long term. I've never seen one of her reviews that doesn't pretty much end up being the common opinion a few months later once the marketing buzz wears off.
Finally no you don't get any slack for being too lazy to change your horrid name. Namely because you have had 10 years to do so and it's well within your power to do so.
@USSJVegeta @Karjah You really fail to get the point of reviews don't you? I read these to get the opinion of someone who has not only played this game but plays and critically thinks about many games because it's their job.
If this wasn't a Batman game and any other game was using the arkham mechanics like this I doubt you would have an issue with the score. It's simply the fact it's an actual entry in the Arkham series that has you you commenting.
Finally it's not 1990 and were not 13 so can drop the really bad DBZ anime names now.
Finally. This is what a 6 should be. A better then average game that doesn't do a whole lot to set itself apart from others in it's genre.
The game will still get my money because I"m a huge fan of the series but it sounds like Carolyn is saying it will be the weak link in the series with a great story to set the events of the other games.
But nope let's just ignore what she's saying to pick on the number assigned to the opinion and then suggest that Carolyn lacks gender. Keep it classy people.
@flameon12346 @Karjah Your opinion is noted but frankly if I'm seriously an issue the moderators can handle it.
As for the tone sadly I've found being so literal and to the point is needed with the level of maturity the commentary on gaming sites tend to have. This never used to be the case on Gamespot and hopefully the sit reaches a better level of conversation and dialog again.
@partybro Gameplay is there there's just less of it then most games. A game doesn't have to give you control all the time to be good. Having control only at moments of tension or decision can actually make the control you are given all the more meaningful.
This won't be a game for everyone but it's such a weak criticism when you consider people used to raise the same criticism against Metal Gear Solid and that series has proven it's a long term staying force in the industry.
