I'm glad to see the series is still putting out such quality. Even if it's not my thing anything that helps push the industry forward is a welcome thing indeed.
I can't beleive I'm saying this but if Sony wants me to buy the latest model of PS3 they should have taken away my ability to just upgrade the hard drive in my current slim model. I mean hell at this point I'd pay extra just to get ps2 compatibility back.

Of course hardware sales are down. There's no one left to sell hardware to because almost everyone has the systems they want already and are waiting for new hardware to come out. I guarantee you the same drop occured the last years of the xbox and ps2.
In other news about 850000 copies of Madden 12 have shown up in used bins across the country to about 10 bucks. What is it with football fans needing to grab madden day one and never buying used.
I think they realize they are going to be a dead business in 10 years or so. Notice how the CEO is so much of an idiot he doesn't even address the "classic" games found on services like the wii shop PSN and XBLA that have already taken a huge portion of the retero market.
Stupid CEO for a company still too stupid to realize after years of us yelling at them for it that it's stupid to put stickers all over the product I'm trying to buy that don't easily come off without knowing a few tricks.
This backs up what happens a lot with me as well. I find despite owning all consoles i play my playstation 3 more then anything else because it produces more exclusives that are IMO worth playing. Sadly for new ips my 360 sees little to no playtime since I hold little interest in shooters and it's RPGs don't appeal to me as much as 3rd party RPGs.
For all those going on about "just keep your current gen console and let the rest of us have a new one" screw you guys.
How quickly we forget that new games will almost always be released on the newest box even when they really don't need to be. At least have the courage to admit that your advocating abandonment of current machines without trying to present some fake option.
why am I not amazed to see graphics whores calling for a new box. How quickly we forget the 700 dollar price tag last gen. 300 to 400 dollars is what most people will spend on a console.
Sony and MS learned from that and I can't see them releasing a new console until the xmas season next year and possibly even later then that into 2014.
Stop screaming all the time for better looking games (OMG COD LOOKS OMG!) and realize there is way more then graphics to a new console. Remember memory cards and wired controllers in the ps2? Would you want to go back to that?
I for one look for more then just the graphics when it comes to a new machine. Let's see some innovation.
Well I think Sony won the "game as art" awards this year with The Last of Us and Beyond. It just killed me to see MS waste a third of their press confrence on sports and sport related services on xbox.
Sadly I don't think the gamer won with e3 this year. Sony did an ok job doing what every console should have done..show us some great new games that are not just a clone of whats already out there and even then Sony had to show a few clones.
