@Rotondi True! I guess the idea is to bring new fans to a classic game. Unfortunately, if you've played a modern game, it's hard to play a classic for the first time and appreciate it for what it was in its day, resulting in the remastering debacle.
@Rotondi RC Pro Am was awesome!!!23yearsago. Agreed, they should just make new versions of these games and include the remake version. I guess nostalgia cheaper to manufacture and easier to sell.
@SimonSiThornton @Vegamyster Hmm, I don't know about that help consumer decide bit. That is certainly an outcome of the review but I doubt that's in their job description. If no reviewers opinion was opposed to the norm then every review would give the same score.
People have different tastes, not everyone fits into the average consumer bracket, that's what it boils down to. In this case, think of Tom as your friend that doesn't think you should waste your time with this game because there are so many better ones out there such as the Last of Us (8 is a good scoore, atleast I would play a game with an 8).
Disclaimer: I haven't played this but probably won't as gameplay vids have not managed to make the challenge look any better than Tom described.
@Vegamyster @SimonSiThornton I think you're looking at this wrong, Simon. The Last of Us doesn't deserve more than an 8. No game deserves any particular score. Reviews of games are based on opinion, professional as they may be. Take the reviewer off the pedestal and what you have is just a gamer with a strong opinion, i.e. every gamer that ever existed.
