@RedLegZeff @Carbine018 What if Zelda was marketed as "Authentic Zelda-like Experience"? Does this suddenly mean it's ultimately realistic? Tom seems to think so.
@vochelli It's a video-game, they are made to be entertaining, the intent of MoH: WF to begin with was entertainment, therefore the game is authentic because it is entertaining. It's an authentic entertainment medium, not a realistic entertainment medium because they are largely non-existent.
Think about it, if i hand you a gun and say "Is it real" the correct answer is "Yes it's real, it's got mass, and is made of atoms of varying properties formed in a gun-like shape and it fires lead using an explosion". If i say "Is it authentic?" then the answer could be "No, it's a cheap knock off and says "A product of Blizzard Entertainment" on the side". Two completely different words with completely different meanings in regard to their use. The dev was saying the entertainment value of the game is authentic because it is a game and matches up to thousands of games before it and this can be verified by comparison to other games.
McShea doesn't know the difference between realistic and authentic, he applied the authentic experience to the gameplay which is not what the dev applied the word "Authentic" to.
Think about it, if i hand you a gun and say "Is it real?" the correct answer is "Yes it's real, it's got mass, and is made of atoms of varying properties formed in a gun-like shape, oh and it fires lead using an explosion". If i say "Is it authentic?" then the answer could be "No, it's a cheap knock off and says "A product of Blizzard Entertainment" on the side".
The game is "authentic" in that it tells the tales of genuine soldiers, not that it is 100% realistic and that getting shot in the heart means you can't play anymore.
McShea is making an a** of himself now. He wants it to be a simulator that's realistic and fun all at once. What an idiot. He obviously thinks Authentic = Realistic which is a load of trash.
I find it stupid that jets can ram and survive, get rid of that goddamn mechanism. I shot a helicopter with a tank and it didn't instantly explode killing everyone, show me how that's even remotely realistic. I'm glad they brougth out this update but ramming still needs to be removed, it's cheap and tacky.
