Antec EarthWatts 430W is enough for 8800GTSdayaccus007

32 bit isn't limited to 2 gigs. It is about 3.3 (you can still put in 4 gb but not all of it will be read)imrlybord7

Yeah, what they said...

Antec EarthWatts 430Wshould handle a 8800GTS unless you are running a killer overclockedsystem with QX6800 +four Raptors in RAID + multiple DVD drives + + + etc...

32 bits maps to 4GB, but some of it is dedicated in Windows for hardware interfaces, etc. which leaves only 3 to 3.5GB available for software to use.

I would avoid the Bigfoot Killer... I have heard lots of problems with drivers and system stability. The only thing it improves is the 5% of your communications that occur inside your computer. You aren't gonna be doing P2P transfers while gaming are you?

The 320MB 8800GTS is more than enough for 720p resolution, no need for 640MB.

I would lean toward a p35 motherboard and probably drop the extr $20 for a Q6600.

Last, I would probably get a OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W for $80 or Antec True Power Trio TP3-550550W for $70 instead of the Raidmax.

Nothing wrong with being a geek... It's not the same as being a nerd.

And if you know all that... you're a geek. ;)

Total cost $1349.80 before tax, $1538.77 after taxes, dam you canadian taxes lol. So yeah any suggestions and I could use some help with powersupply choices.

filmography

If you don't like to pay taxes, try www.NCIX.com or even better www.DirectCanada.com (assuming you don't live in BC) and there is no PST for out of province orders. Direct Canada also has free shipping on orders over $300.

The E6550 or E6750 dual core processors aregreat bang for the buck processors right now... If you have more to spend, you could go with the Q6600 quad core. Either option can be overclocked to get even better value, but I would get faster 800MHz RAM for that (about the same price anyway) and a great CPU cooler to help with the overclock for about $20 is the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

[QUOTE="kruesader"]

Good ram, I didnt know asus made video cards though.

It would have been smarter to get a mobo in mind first.

TheBroch

Asus bought out ati, thats why they made it.

I get what your saying about buying mobo first, but it was because of the amazing discount i got on both the ram and the vid card that i got these two. Saved 200+ combined there

Actually, AMD bought ATI... and Asus has been making video cards for a while now... using both ATI and Nvidia cores.

For $500, I would suggest these...

$287 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box

$137 Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R ATX LGA775 Conroe P35 DDR2 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 SATA RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard

$21 Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro LGA775 2500RPM 45CFM

The cooler isn't needed, but is quieter and keeps the processor cooler than the stock cooler... great if you wanna overclock.

[QUOTE="crazycolt1234"]That Video Card is holding you back, get a 8800Gts or 8800 GTX and you should be setj3ninja10

dont listen to this guy, that card is great unless you want to play the latest dx10 games, but there arent any. 7950gx2 is slightly better than the 8800gts but not the gtx

IF you can still find a 7950GX2, don't get it! The 8800GTS isfaster in most games and supports DX-10 and costs less.

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=707&model2=708&chart=318

Use that link and check specific games and resolutions you play to see where one card is better than the other...

And if you want the best there is, that would currently be the 8800TGX... at least until November or later...

Nice system, but you probably should have asked here about it first... you probably could have saved a couple hundred and got just about the same performance.
