EA. Games. Right. 1st world problems people, 1st world problems. It doesn't matter how bad they are in gaming industry terms, the very fact that they are part of nothing more sinister than the gaming industry makes it laughable to see them voted worst in America. This is one of those times when I feel sad to be part of that gaming community. Honestly. Grow up gamers.
If Randy Pitchford said good things about the PS4 then I'm definitely getting the new XBOX. We all know what happens when he says something is gonna be good.
@Zloth2 @norabbitnofun But, if you invest so much money that even if more people play your game than any other Tomb Raider game ever that's still not good enough, something very weird is going on. You can't reasonably expect a better result from a game / movie / book (whatever) release than it's the most popular there's ever been in that series. If that still isn't going to be enough to cover your costs then you really shouldn't be given control of a games budget.
@swyg @Gray360UK Yeah I get that, but how can you put so much into a game that selling more copies of this Tomb Raider than any other Tomb Raider isn't going to be enough? It's crazy. What the hell was their board meeting like?
"Okay guys, what's the best we can hope for?"
"How about outselling every other Tomb Raider game there's even been".
@GasparNolasco @thorn3000 @Gray360UK Important to note that the 3.4 million figure is copies sold, not amount of money made. If it was money, you might be correct, as of course 3.4 million dollars then is not as impressive as 3.4 million dollars now. As we are talking about units sold however, and in particular selling more units than any other instance of Tomb Raider, then something is very wrong if that's failing to meet expectations.
It's more popular than any other Tomb Raider and more people bought it than any other Tomb Raider, but that's not enough? C'mon, someone has unrealistic expectations. You can't expect better than outselling every other previous version of a Tomb Raider game surely?
Franchise sales record, highest week one sales in the history of the franchise, biggest opening of 2013. Square Enix say sales failed to meet expectations. What's wrong with this picture? Hello crazy expectations and greedy Squeenix people.
