Doing business on credit is fine. Doing business on credit extract by force from hapless taxpayers who aren't voluntarily investing in this venture is theft. If 38 Studious couldn't get financing through the normal means, they should fail.
So 38 Studios becomes the Solyndra of the video game industry. Please, for the love of pete, and the sake of decent video games, keep the post office out of the video game business.
This is only partially true. It's a bit of a which-came-first argument, to be sure. But often times people will develop for the system they believe will (or sales figures/history shows) will sell.
Also, exclusive deals are becoming more and more rare, because you cut out 2/3 of your audience through exclusivity.
I for one am curious to see where the industry goes. If there aren't any exclusive platform titles in the future, it makes one wonder why they'd pick one console over another.
Your pc will almost always be stronger than your console. A brand new release console may be stronger than your pc, for maybe a year, then your best PC will outperform it.
Also, there are sales figures that back this up. Like all stereotypes, they're not absolutely true, but there is probably a general truth in it.
My personal opinion is that the divergence between the Xbox and PS3 audiences is shrinking.
But I'm one of those types that believes there's room in the market for everyone and every type.
