Never played it but I'm not completely off the idea. The 30fps lock may be a stopper for me, it's horrible on a monitor (hell 30fps is horrible on my TV as well).

I have consoles around to play emu retro games or amazing classics like skate / 2 or Amped 2 on OG xbox.

Otherwise, PC.

Did someone say Emu games?

@GarGx1: Next gen's been more or less confirmed for 2020, so there's time. We don't even know how widespread ray-tracing is going to be, or how difficult it will be for developers to consistently achieve, at least not at first.

That said, when the most technically advanced video card on the market can only achieve 30 FPS on 2018 games, I don't exactly have high hopes for the vast implementation of this feature for a good, long while on any platform.

I honestly wouldn't put too much stock onto the performance of a yet to be released card with basic, under developed, drivers running an incomplete game. We all know that ray tracing is going to be demanding but Tomb Raider at 1080p and 30fps will most likely be improved on by the time both the card and the game have finished baking in the oven. Having said that I'm not going to rush out and preorder a GPU without seeing some third party testing and benchmarks and an unbiased overview. At least I know of one person to ask how the card is when it comes out :) Also I want to wait till there's a water block available as well.

For normal, non ray tracing, use I'm expecting a 20% - 25% increase over the 1080Ti and likely the first card to be fully capable of a steady 4k Ultra at 60fps.

@davillain-: There is a large difference between "it's standard" and "it's available," and taking an offhand comment from a DICE producer means absolutely nothing.

Firstly, this developer does not develop console hardware. Secondly, and most importantly, referring to something as "the standard" means that it is the universally accepted way of doing things and not doing things this way makes you a dinosaur. Despite the fact that this means absolutely nothing coming from a DICE employee, at no point does he even suggest that ray-tracing won't be available on next-gen consoles.

Also, nobody here even understands what ray-tracing is, nor have they played a game using this feature. What was Nvidia's big thing with DX11 graphics cards? That silly dynamic hair-rendering feature that made even the most beastly of cards crumble a game's FPS? Do some research and see how widely used that was....

Also, small aside: I totally pre-ordered one of those RTX cards because ray-tracing sounds fucking awesome. But seriously, this thread is grasping at straws in a weak, uninformed attempt to belittle a generation of hardware that doesn't even exist yet.

It probably about right though. New console generations are generally 2 to 3 GPU generations behind the cutting edge at the time of release. It's already widely expected for Navi to have power similar to the GTX 1080. Putting it 2 to 3 GPU gens behind cutting edge, assuming a 2019 release for the next console refresh. Project that further and Ray Tracing will likely be a feature on consoles coming out somewhere around 2023 - 2025. (providing the console manufacturers aren't pushing further into subscription based game streaming by them)

Umm PS3 did ray-tracing so no.

PS3 was capable of real time ray tracing during game play, really?

Which of the photo's in the OP show the down grade, the one with a big puddle or the one with a small puddle?

Problem is they are both so blurry it's hard to tell which one is supposed to have great graphics.

@Mercenary848: Are you completely incapable of communicating without resorting to insulting someone?

What's really hilarious is that you don't even know your own country's history. Reagan may not have been far right (extremism is bad) but he was most definitely a conservative. Please, before you reply with more insults, actually spend some time reading about the person your talking about. I'll even help you out because ignorance is a desease that can be cured.
