@cozmic80 Buggy games have nothing to do with internet connections buggy games come from the complexity of modern games and unrealistic deadlines. Nobody want to put out a bad game, their doing it to make money obviously, they're forced to release when things are mismanged.
I dont understand how so many of you think this is a bad idea, i understand the inernet infrastructure issue, however if a majority of games were sold digitally that is much more of your gaming dollars going back to the people that actually make the games. Wal Mart and Gamestop dont make games, neither do the people that manufacture discs. If you cut out the middle men that contribute nothing to the industry that is more of your gaming $ that is in turn used to make more and better gaming whats wrong with that?
I think he may have a point. Personally I far prefer steam for all my game buying needs, but I have a good internet connection. Steam and other digital retailers often have sells where I have picked up new games for half or even 75% off and not worrying about keeping track of cd keys and whatnot for games i feel like diving back into after a few years is awesome, however if i did not have good internet then there is no way i would buy my games this way. Being internet infrastructure as it is in the majority of the world i think its a way off before brick and mortar stores are obsolete.
@REMLOC In a perfect world where this giant corporations cared about the consumer less than their bottom line, this may have a chance. Sadly we live in a world where money is the drive for creativity and even though you wont pay the price most will. The way the market is going its going to be 90% digital downloads, so what will we sell our access codes? The days of owning digital content are fading fast. I look at it like television though i never owned any tv programming that i watch. Markets change to make more money bottom line.
I cant believe the negativity elder scrolls has been the only open world RPG series that was really good. I doubt the single player versions will suffer at all since these are made by separate groups
Hell YEAH!!! As a lover of all things elder scrolls I can say I always wanted to be able to have a friend along (Lydia just doesnt do it for me). Having a guy from one of the most breakthrough and entertaining MMO's of all time onboard as well...... I think it will be superb.
