The idea that 60 dollars is justified due to development costs being 50-60 million dollars is hilarious. Movies like the Avengers have budgets of over 200 millioin dollars and then get put out to be watched ONLY ONCE for 10 dollars.
Price is justified by adjusting costs to demand to earn a profit. Games like the CoD series and TES on steam justify not dropping their price for nearly a year because the demand hardly shrivels while many Square Enix (publisher) games lower their price a lot sooner to compensate for not being as high profile. The model and freedom that publishers and developers are given on digital distribution programs like Steam or the Android store is where the industry should be heading.
They said that they believe it will raise the innovation bar even higher but downright do not expect it to surpass last years sales.
Next Gen consoles are rumored to be released in the same time frame that CoD games are.
Chances are the next one to be released will be the next-gen version, explaining why they basically KNOW that it will not outsell Blops2 due to no where near as many people owning the new generations consoles compared to the amount consoles from this generation that are owned.
@jsmoke03 chances are it's mainly for the games it publishes though they could possibly integrate it with their Luminous engine somehow (if that's even possible, lol) for their first party games.
@H4num4n @Mr_BillGates He's absolutely right. Too many people caught in nostalgia asking for remakes when we need to be more progressive. How about you elaborate on this "random shit" cause I certainly don't see where you're coming from.
Seriously one of the greatest voice acted video game series ever. The only way I would ever support for this series to be revived in a fresh sort of way (not talking about hd release) would be if Henning returned to it as it's creative director once more.
I completely agree with Mr. Spector in that it is better to allow the player to choose their own methods to tackle the obstacles the game lays out for them. I'm currently playing Thief for the first time and I really am enjoying it's emphasis on pure stealth but I do get that there are times where you want to change things up.
When I played the MGS games (though this observation mainly started with SoL and onwards) I was always fascinated with the fact taht you could make so many decisions in how to tackle the game whether it be kill or not kill, stealth or guns out blazing with rifles and etc. With the open world/free form game design that we're seeing today in games like the ME franchise, Bethesda games (TES and Fallout), Deus Ex, Dishonored, MGS, etc. we basically get the best of both worlds and due to it's broad perspective these developers have higher chances to succeed and iterate on their projects to then shell out even better games that have evolved from it's predecessors.
