The first game had great potential, but they blew it by focusing way too much on combat. I always thought that the developers never really wanted guns, but someone high up at EA didn't want to release a first-person game without guns in it so they were forced to add them.
Also, platforming doesn't work well when you're being shot at.
It did look great though, and the sensation of rapid movement and jumping was really well-done.
Ironically, if this was $20 and it didn't cost real money to acquire upgrades I'd buy it, since I'm a huge fan of Unreal Tournament and Quake III and this game looks a lot like those.
