I think the reports of lowered specs is a concern, but I wouldn't worry too much about Nintendo. They always made great games and as long as they continue to do that, then they'll be fine. Maybe not the early success as the Wii had, but I think it'll be more viable than the Gamecube. They just have to release their games at a good pace and avoid the early 3DS drought and launch mistakes.

I think Dark Souls (and Demon's Souls) are amazing and probably the best RPGs on consoles.

My question is to those who haven't played it yet, what's holding you back from wanting to experience one of the best and most surprising games of this gen?

Is it:

  • The difficulty?
  • Does it require too much patience to play so it turns you off to it?
  • Too old school in nature.
  • Or are you planning to play it but not right now, maybe when you have time or at a price drop.
  • Or the game just doesn't interest you since it's not your type of game..

For me, I think text-heavy RPGs like Skyrim and Dragon Age Origins require more patience than Dark Souls. I also love Skyrim and Dragon Age Origins, but I'm getting into Dark Souls more than those titles. Dark Souls is all about the amazing combat and I love that. The grinding isn't a boring chore and the game is very rewarding. The challenge is brutal but it isn't cheap. Everytime you beat a boss I feel so satisfied, more than any other RPG I've played.

It's just a fantastic game.

Maybe, if the game is the best game ever made and it was continually supported.

Since Witcher 2 is out for consoles, I just wanted to make this poll and ask, "What is your pick as the best RPG for consoles that is based on medieval fantasy?"

My pick has to be Dark Souls.

Compared to the PC version, than yeah. But for consoles, it's one of the best looking games.

I'd love to see a Haunting Ground or Final Fantasy XII HD release.

It's tough for me to narrow my favorites of all-time to just three, but these are my favorite games of this era:

1. Dark Souls

2. The Witcher 2

3. SMT Strange Journey

Dark Souls is doing that to me now. At least I can say it's arguably the best RPG of this generation.

I'm interested to see how much 343 Studios will change the Halo formula, if they will or not. I thought the series got formulaic towards ODST. Even though Reach was visually better, it was still the same Halo game. I know fans are happy with more of the same, but I still think the series needs something fresh. Hope Halo 4 brings new life to the series. Which is why I'm looking forward to it.
