Unless portability is a concern, in that price range there are a decent number of amps/dacs that would fair better. Such as the Zero DAC or Audio-gd NFB-12.

NVIDIATI
Where would I be able to find a NFB-12. You brought it up to me before, and i'm not writing it off- its just this is the first time I've heard headphones in a proper DAC/Amp combo. [QUOTE="NamelessPlayer"]With headphones like those, no wonder they sound better with an amp like the E9...but I don't think it would benefit something really sensitive like an AD700 much. As for amps, I haven't been pursuing those much, but that's because a Stax SRM-1/Mk2 or SRM-T1 costs too much for my thin wallet and I don't expect a dramatic improvement. (Let's not even bring up the KGSS, Blue Hawaii SE, or Liquid Lightning...)

Well I've heard the Grados don't improve much from an amp since they're low impendence but I'd have to completely disagree. The difference was huge. There was like no distortion- unlike normal( the louder I turn up my Grados, the more my ears hurt from treble) the more I turned the volume up, the more orgasmic I felt How do you power your Stax at the moment. I know as soon as I have enough money set aside I'm getting a new amp and DAC

Tonight my friend finally received his Beyer DT990s 250 ohm with e7/e9 combo. I rolled on over to his crib with my Grado 325is and Senn HD650s. Hooked everything up into my PC and HOLY GODDAMN!!!! OMFG!!!! IS THIS REAL??? Everything sounded, SO. GOD. DAMN. GOOD!! We listened to Crystal Castles, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode, Bjork. Everything sounded incredible

Most impressive to me though... was the jump the Grados received. They sounded larger than life, immaculate, perfectly textured, P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N

To everyone wondering if amps are worth it, I'm a total convert. Back to back comparisons between E9 and my DAC was NO comparison. Due to driver issues we didn't even have the E7 hooked up half the time, it was just line out straight to the E9 and just, WOW

I've experimented with a decent amount, especially psychedelics. They have the power to be incredibly motivating and power to refocus your life, but for pure recreation value a lot of drugs are pointless and just filler for living a boring life

[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]

[QUOTE="mexicangordo"] The production is one thing, I mean production now a days is usually top notch, however the creativity that was put into that album in "mainstream" context is very mind blowing. Incredible huge breath of fresh air for hiphop.

Agreed. And you can see that he tried to tap into that for Watch The Throne, but for some reason it just didn't work nearly as well. It felt way more thrown together, like there was not enough thought put into it.

Although I think Kanye is very talented musically, he is for sure a critics artist in which they usually rate his work fairly high, with that said I thought "Watch The Throne" was a pretty sloppy album. I think that people let it get a pass because his previous work was held so high. The first single for most radiofriendly albums usually foreshadows the rest of the record. "Odis" was just an overproduced, sloppy mess. I mean, I had to hear it at least 4 times just to understand anything of it and I mean that in a bad way. Like you said, the album felt very thrown together, last minute and rushed, in no way shape or form does it have the same finesse that "MBDTF" had. But then again, when you made quite possibly the best hip hop album of the decade, the guy needs a break right?

Truth is Jay Z brings Kanye down

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. It is the one album that ceases to really concern me as a collection of songs, and is instead a long, real... album. Every song has its own theme, and feels like a different angle of Loveless. Throughout any type of experience I've had so far in my small 19 years of life, its the most comforting, and most uplifting and empowering album I've listened to, and after 4 years of being my most listened to album there's still more to it to discover

Second is Siamese Dream. In a way it shares a similar, noisy sound with Loveless, but much more alternative rock, much more confessional( to steal Gordo's word)
