My wish list for the genre:

-A proper gangster game

-A d&d game like the Temple of Elemental Evil (brilliant, but flawed thanks to it's numerous bugs)

-A sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics, and I mean a good one

-Another Advance Wars game, they rock

-A... wait for it... tactical pokemon game. IMO, the logical step in the franchise, bugs me that the closest thing they did was that weird mash up of Pokemon and Nobunaga

Any suggestions?

So far, the game looks more like another standard MMORPG than a typical Elder Scrolls.

One of the things is the class system. I really like how I built my character the way I wanted in previous TES. My favorite archetype is the Breton conjurer, and I wonder if I'll find it in this game.

@amampathak

Agreed.

And depending on me, the Daggerfall Covenant will rock with my Conjurer Breton rocking his way with his summoned minions. Was a Breton in Morrowing, Oblivion, Skyrim and now will be in online. (even though one of my favorite characters was a Dunmer in Morrowind)

Does anyone else here already choose their faction and race? (or at least favorite faction and race)

I don't like this setting.

Ok, actually, I like, but I don't think the setting fits the series. Why not make him an assassin in the first World War?

They felt the need to shift the lineage of assassins from Europe to North America now, but I think it was a bad move. In fact, the first World War was one of those cornerstones in history that shifted the power from Europe to America, which is perfect.

AC II setting impressed me right from the start. Dwelving in the might Cathedrals of Firenze and Venice was amazing. Be a person living in the craddle of Renaissance, among Machiavel and Leonardo, was equally amazing.

With this setting I just feel the assassin lost this aspect. Being in the middle of the most epic events of western civilization, like crusades and renaissance.

Still, I hope Ubisoft surprises me. I don't like the setting because it's not the best setting, in my opinion. But it isn't a bad one, at least.

i always consider the overhype factor. how huge expectations can lead to even bigger frustrations. but theres no hype enough for this game. looks epic so far. my only concern is with the plot and setting. will it be as catchy as morrowind, or just average like oblivion?

I enjoyed a lot how diplomacy and garrison worked. Also, roleplaying a Daymio in Sengoku period rocked. Now I hope for a Hellenic Total War! Or another Rome Total War. Acient Era is my favourite.

If they come with "Dragon Age TBA 2012" I swear Im not buying it. I though Bioware was one of those companies that put effort in quality, intending to make a masterpiece, like Baldur's Gate were, like DA:O. Other companies like Bethesda (Morrowind rocked), Rockstar and Blizzard also fit in this category. Those king of games that created THIS amount of fans. I like DA2. 8.0 is a fair score to this game (maybe 7.5). But I didn't asked for a good hack'n'slash game. I asked for another of those good memorable games. Also, someone here already said it. They portrayed Hawke as "the single most important person in Thedas." Really? What they had in mind? My warden slayed a friggin archdemon. Quite a disapoitment...

Hey, I actually agree with texasgoldrush. There's too much people ranting. As I said before, the biggest DA2 flaw is to be DA:O sucessor. DA2 is a decent game by itself. What really annoys me is why they took some aspects of the first game for no good reason. Lazyness, maybe? Also, I miss my surprise attacks. Like watching all those enemies unaware of your presence then BOOM, inferno, blood wound, fireballs, glyph paralyze+repulsion, quake. I loved those ones.

Heh. Funny how Arishok gives a good review of the story in act1. "This city is just a mess with loads of human and elves walking here and there, no purpose, no goal" Or something similar. He could replace "city" for "game" and his eloquence wouldn't suffer.

Honestly. If the next dragon age, to be a good game, have to come only late 2015, I can wait. I'm waiting more than 10 years for diablo. I waited 4 years for Oblivion and it was worth it. It's not like I can't live without playing Dragon Age.
