The DA2's biggest flaw is being DA:O and Baldur's sucessor. DA2 is a good game, but the sense of liberty and epicness from its predecessors makes it a simple game, not much more involving than Fable or Witcher, IMO (maybe less involving). Also, if they want the enemies to be reckless mobs of marauders, they better stick with darkspawn. Humans may be an overall more interesting foes, but only if they really behave like humans.

I don't understand why people got so angry with DA2. Yes, maybe it was inferior. I still prefer the DA:O. But DA2 have its positive aspects. Combat is much more realistic. On other side, it seems they invested so much in combat that pretty much everything boils down to killing gangsters and mad mages. The skill tree is way better. WAY better. Instead of researching useless skills to get good ones, you pretty much always end up taking a interesting skill or upgrading another one. The classes are more balanced. So now playing as a 2H warrior is a decent idea, while in DA:O they just plain s#ck*d. Every build have its uses. They should consider those things. The best aspects of DA2 and DA:O. Im glad they tried something different, maybe (if they really care about our opinions) DA3 will rock.
