Ok, first of all: SPOILER warning, for those who haven´t played through the MGS series.

Personally, I wouldn´t really say MGS3 is depressing, its really just sad at the end (VERY sad, true, especially when you have to pull the trigger...which I tried to avoid for like 5 mins first time through, to no avail...) but I can´t really think of any other really sad moments throughout. There are definitely good moments that elicit some emotional response, but usually not sadness...and the general vibe of the game doesn´t feel nearly depressing enough to be on the list.

MGS1 is to me far more depressing, at least if "depressing" can mean "number of sad moments". Maybe its just because its one of my very favorite games and so I care more about stuff that happens in it, but I think its probably the only game I remember where I get "leaky-eye" syndrome after killing almost every villain, especially Sniper Wolf, but even the Mantis and Raven deaths make me feel kind of bad, once they´ve had their final speeches. Then there´s the whole Meryl situation, which is pretty depressing (especially if you pressed SELECT..) and to this day Gray Fox´s martyr scene still gets me, even though I´ve seen it like 20 times probably..Also, when you finally unravel the plot you realise that everything you did until entering entering the PAL cards basically had the opposite effect to what your mission was, and that you´re basically just a viral host which will probably die sooner or later even if you do complete the mission. Not to mention that Snake starts out as a pretty depressing guy himself, who says stuff like "unfortunately, killing is one of those things that gets easier the more you do it" and that he doesn´t care about anyone else, although he does change by the end.

@Gamer_4_Fun: True, but the argument that you use your phone every day, and for a huge amount of things, as opposed to the Oculus which stays at home and has less than 5 great games, does hold up. Until theres more reasons to use it I dont think many people will be willing to buy it. For now, its a nice gaming alternative for the well-off, I just hope it wont take too long for it to be a truly great alternative for everyone...

Wow, gotta say that looks great, and the characters seem more interesting than ever. My only worry though is that when graphics reach this level, it seems like lip-synching animations will struggle to keep up...I mean this is some of the best I´ve seen, but when the rest of the details are so lifelike even the slightest disconnect between dialogue and lip movements kind of stands out. Maybe some new kind of next-gen mo(uth)-cap is needed?

@RadPro: I don´t think it sounds completely bad, but yeah I´d definitely like if they could have some sort of "classic" option where you have the text without any VO...cause I can just tell some of those voices are going to ruin the characters for me...like that Wedge...O_o

@d_parker: Yeah but those are 2 distinct game consoles with separate line-ups of games etc. Performance matters for the Steam machines because its really the only major disadvantage it could have compared to other consoles, besides the controller I guess. So the fact that the performance is at least as good, or better, means it basically has no drawbacks (at least not obvious ones) compared to the other consoles, and the advantages are obvious: you dont have to buy games for your new console, you can already play everything you own on Steam, and for every new game that comes out that isnt exclusive, buying it on Steam is practically always a better deal, or will be if you´re patient.

Definitely want it to be a full, deep game. This sounds like one of the most fresh, original "FPS" ideas in years, and I´ve always wanted to play in a realistic prehistoric setting.

I like all the intros from MGS1-3, but I have to say that the start of MGS2 is one of the few game beginnings that have sat with me ever since in clear detail. I can still remember pretty much the time of day I started it, and even what I was eating and drinking at the time, so now whenever I have the same snack I ate at the time, I instantly think of my experience playing the Tanker Episode all those years ago...For me its one of the most special for alot of reasons, 1st it was friggin MGS2, the sequel to one of my all time favs, 2nd the hype leading up to it was crazy, and even though I unfortunately found out before playing that Snake was only playable at the start, it kind of made me savour it even more, 3rd it was actually probably the best part of the game IMO with tons of little secrets, hidden codec convos and easter eggs like the Vulcan Raven doll etc..and finally it just looked SOOOO amazing in 2001, I remember doing hardly anything for the first 10 mins, cause I was just staring at the rain landing on the boat, on the new 1st person camera, on Snakes face, his bandana flapping in the breeze, being able to shoot out the lights to create more shadows, dragging the guards and putting them into lockers, just so many things that seemed so far ahead of their time, with graphics far above anything I remember from that time. In fact playing through the HD edition again made me honestly think that it only looks a bit worse than alot of games from this current/last gen...but anyway, MGS2 is my pick

@dark_rage864 Right, because making a game is a piece of cake obviously. They must just be tinkering around with these episodes during lunchbreaks or something, since they can ONLY churn out one per month...
