@WickedTeddy Nah, wrong way to look at it. He wants a job, as so he did EXACTLY the right thing. He put together a massive demo reel of his skills, aka a mod.
There's nothing "cocky" about showcasing your skills. No where is he demanding a job, he's simply stating "I'm serious about working in the industry, here's what I can do."
Watched the E3 trailer, and I honestly was bored out of my mind. I really didn't see anything revolutionary or exciting. Reminds me of the "hype" surrounding Rage. Every single video I saw, or article I read left me thinking "well, there's got to be more to this game given how much praise it's getting from so-in-so." The game was hyped purely based on the name behind it, and I have a gut feeling the same is being done here.
I won't be sad if another FPS doesn't see its way onto PC. There are plenty to choose from already.
Really? Big bucks? You clearly have no clue when it comes to working in the games industry. You know who makes the big bucks? The publishers and CEO's, not the artists and programmers busting their asses for 10+ hours a day, for years at a time making the game. The make enough money to get by, but they're hardly well-off in terms of compensation. They do it for the love, not the money, but passion is no excuse for accepting lousy working conditions.
Well, if that's true, then you're a very rare exception, but props to you for sticking to the same idea for 2.5 years.
I would say indie is a tad different than a full scale production. You have more control, and my guess is that there were less people you had to engage or compromise with. A lot of these Kickstarter projects are pretty ambitious, and from what I can tell, require a pretty large team if they have any chance of succeeding, which in my mind ultimately means there will be change along the way.
@foxrock66 @cavs25 There was a video on IGN showing Levine playing the first 15 or 20 minutes of the game. That appeared a full week before the game was released.
