I have a feeling that those who are ripping Tom have such high expectations for The Last of Us that they are the ones most likely to be underwhelmed by the game!
The ninth paragraph of this review (or first paragraph of the second page) is the most severe critique of the game.
Naughty Dog is unquestionably trying to immerse players into the savage world of the game with amazingly detailed graphics, animation, voice work, and a harsher, more methodical combat system. Amid these ambitions, the flaws Tom has noticed would be significantly be more pronounced, thereby hurting the overall experience noticeably.
Good thing this game has been announced early before E3.
Many who have been very critical of the Xbox One up to this point would have been disappointed if this game was presented as a big reveal during Microsoft's conference.
So far, Quantum Break still remains the most intriguing exclusive for Xbox One. I really do hope Remedy will show substantial gameplay such as an 8-12 minute walkthrough.
I wouldn't be suspicious if the early reviews are poor and improves over time. However, I would be suspicious if early reviews are really high and then plummets.
Some publishers may allow some sites to release early reviews of their game if they feel the site will offer a good rating. Such handpicking is a dubious practice because for consumers who tend to purchase games on the day of release, they'll be fooled into buying a bad game.
"The Swapper" reminds me of another game titled, "The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom."
Winterbottom also utilized clones to solve a variety of different puzzles. For each new world the player explored, the core cloning mechanic would be augmented by other gameplay mechanics such as time manipulation, offering the game a lot of variety.
I'm excited for anything Ninja Theory has in store because they focus on making single player games with interesting characters and stories.
They also develop games with top-notch animation and voice work. Even to this day, I think Heavenly Sword has some of the best facial animation and voice work in the business.
I enjoyed both the original games and I would be excited for a sequel for either one. However, based on their history, I feel like Ninja Theory will probably announce a new IP, or at least an IP they've never worked with before.
When I read the name it doesn't illicit the feeling that it's the next big thing. It makes me think of a reboot or the first step of something greater.
Here are some names that I thought would be better. [I don't know if any of these names have copyrights though!]
Xbox Unity- My favorite, but perhaps utilized by some other company
Xbox Monolith -The system's size might make this title seem like a bad joke. Although it would be appropriate
