@DiamondDM13 @Chikalin Though, I now find myself curious if sales of either console will be hindered by the fact that there's no reliance on new media playback.. Surely everyone in Japan has a bluray player by now.

@DiamondDM13 The problem with this comment is that it's technically wrong. The Japanese buy the console that also plays the most recent media. The PS2 surged in Japan due to DVD playback, and the PS3 did the same with bluray playback. The fact that it comes with games that cater to their tastes helps, but DVD and bluray playback were actually more meaningful qualities in the past than the games.

On this note, I've always been vaguely concerned what would happen if Capcom did a legitimate rerelease of SFA3. The arcade version of Alpha 3 was inferior to the console version(s) for a variety of reasons, the foremost being a smogasbord of additional single player content, especially in the Dreamcast and PSP versions. If Capcom released an arcade perfect port with no extra modes, Guile, T. Hawk, Fei Long, etc . . . would people still like it as much with the only real draw being online play.

I'd care more if the game didn't feel like it was 8 years old ( which it technically is, considering when development originally started ) and wasn't a prime example of poor optimization. Ragnarok Online had a definite time and place, which is neither here nor now. RO2 being region locked may prevent other regions from being disappoint.

@OmegaGear Well, for one, a lot more Japanese games have commercially available soundtracks, and to be quite honest . . . in comparison, selling "9,000 units," is pretty much pathetic compared to average Japanese soundtrack sales. But in saying that, US music sales in general are nothing compared to those of just about any other region in the world.
