Why do people make dumb threads like this? The Strokes, The Killers, Bloc party, The Arcade Fire are just a few awesome bands from 2000+. If no one gives new music a chance, then it will fail. Its all of our fault. Give it a chance.

The Killers? Try listening to Joy Division

You obviously forgot Lady Gaga, how can music be considered dead with artists such as her currently producing music?

tenaka2

people like Lady Gaga aren't artists, they're performers.

it's funny how different opinions are,for to me,grunge itself was the poison the music farm was once irrigated with.

Grunge killed Glam, and you be thankful for that.

I have, but you'r shooting down my idea as if its ludicrous without taking it into consideration...its like saying literature would die if Stephen King stopped writing, it makes no sense.

I'm just stating what I conclude from my timeline. There might be specific underground stuff in 2011, but this is only a rebirth for you, not for music itself. The underground stuff you might find in 2011has not evolvedfrom the last remenants of the mid-90's.

You'r timeline is subjective...You liked music in the mid-90's, so if it had not evolved and is still made in the underground music scene today, what is the problem?

You really shouldn't have to dig that deep to find good music. What I'm trying to say, is that it shouldn't have to be this way.

Another plot on my timeline is Rap. The Resurrection by Geto Boyz, I plot that as the last great rap album. This was 1996, one year before music died.

Tupac also died in 1996, further proving my point. The one who picked up the slack was Puff Daddy in 1997, and he ruined everything.

No...it didn't, I assume the you do not like todays mainstream music, but you can still find good music today, you just have to know where to look.

Review the timeline, Radiohead's "OK Computer" is in fact the last great album in the history of music, which is 1997. After that music dies, thanks to the Boy Bands, Britney Spears, & the Nu-Metal craze from 1998-2001, then the Emo explosion from 2002-2006.

I'm pleased you mentioned Deftones, but music didn't die in 1997...

Conno08

It did for most genres, but for Punk Rock fans; 1998 was the last.

Looking at my timeline, music died in 1997 AFTER "Ok Computer"

That's the thing, it's common knowledge that Ska died in 1997 with this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIGMUAMevH0

and Punk Rock died in 1998 with this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWrKOAS4MxU&feature=related

Days of the New, Deftones, Korn, Limp Bizkit & a bunch of other ones, Filter, LP, SOAD & others followed suit from 1997-2001.

Refused split in 1998, which is vital to my timeline as well. That and Mighty Mighty Bosstones last hit single "Impression That I get" was in 1997, which kills Punk & Ska near the same time. Then Korn's hit "Freak On Leash" takes everything by storm in 1998.
